James Pearce Jr. was arrested during a traffic stop in December 2023, as per ESPN. Police said he was driving 63 mph in a 35 mph zone and had an expired temporary license plate from North Carolina. When they stopped him, they found out his driver’s license had been suspended. Pearce also didn’t show ID or proof of car insurance when asked.

Officers said he didn’t follow directions right away and had to be told more than once to turn off the car and step outside. As the police were checking his car, Pearce started to walk back toward it, which led officers to detain him, though he didn’t resist. He was charged with several traffic violations, including speeding, driving with a suspended license, not having insurance, and illegal window tint. His car was also towed. Later, all the charges were dropped after Pearce got a valid driver’s license and paid the required fees of $278, according to Knox News.
