#1 Tendulkar heaps praise on Labuschagne

Labuschagne's rise in such a short period has been nothing short of incredible

2011 World Cup winner and former India captain Sachin Tendulkar heaped praise on Australia's latest batting sensation Marnus Labuschagne, comparing his footwork to his playing days.

Tendulkar, who was at the SCG and will coach Ponting XI at the Bushfire Bash on Sunday, revealed his admiration towards the batsman which grew manifold during his gutsy innings while facing Jofra Archer during last year's Ashes series in England. He pointed out his incredible footwork even after being hit by Archer on the head early on in the innings.

“His footwork was incredible, so he would be the one I would say,” Tendulkar replied at the SCG on Friday, when asked whether any modern-day player reminds him of himself.
“I saw Marnus getting hit (on the helmet by) the second ball he faced from Jofra Archer and post that, the 15 minutes he batted I said ‘this player looks special, there is something about him’.
“His footwork was precise and footwork is not physical, it’s mental. If you’re not thinking positively in your mind then your feet don’t move. “So that clearly indicated to me that this guy is mentally strong.”

#2 R Sridhar not happy with current fielding standards

Indian fielding coach R Sridhar expressed his disappointment over the continuous deterioration in the fielding standards since the CWC 2019 but sounded hopeful of better effort from the second ODI in Auckland tomorrow.

Sridhar stated that the Indian team were nowhere close to the fielding standards set by them in the CWC 2019 and have been performing poorly since the West Indies series at home last year.

"Overthrows, I mean, you are talking about" Manish (Pandey) -- he took a chance. He had to do it, and we needed a wicket at that time."
"You can bargain four runs for a wicket and it was the best player who was there at that time. These things happen, you can’t look too deep into that...That catch should have been taken. Probably it was after his first over, maybe he was thinking about his previous over, could be anything. It could not be a technical aspect at all."
"We keep reminding the players about attention to basic detail...In a T20 game, each fielder has to be his own captain. He need not wait for the captain to move him or the bowler to move him in a certain direction or to a certain position... We try and tell them to think ahead of the game, you as a fielder captain yourself, see which way the breeze is, which way the batsman’s tendencies to hit are, what’s the bowler’s plan and position accordingly.”
"The West Indies series at home was somewhere we really dropped. We were average, to say the least. But definitely we have not lived to the standards as we did in the world Cup or even in the build-up to the World Cup in the last couple years."

#3 Looking back at Kumble's 10-wicket haul

Legendary spinner Anil Kumble will fondly remember this day 21 years back when he became only the second bowler to take 10 wickets in a Test innings against Pakistan. Kumble's 0/74 in 26.3 was only the second instance that a bowler took all of the opposition's wicket, following England's Jim Laker who took all 10 wickets against Australia.

A 132-Test veteran, Kumble broke Pakistan's spine after breaking their opening partnership of 101 between Shahid Afridi and Saeed Anwar. Pakistan, who were chasing a target of 420 runs, lost by 212 runs at Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla.

Kumble had told BCCI in 2014:

"A 'Perfect Ten' isn't something you set out to achieve as a cricketer. I would attribute the events of 7th February 1999 to destiny,"
