The 2nd T20I of the two-match series between India and Sri Lanka at Mohali on December 12, 2009 also saw India chasing a score of 200-plus. Set to win a highly challenging 207, India were guided by brilliant fifties from Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh.

While Sehwag got India off to a blazing start with 64 from 36 balls smashing seven fours and three sixes, Yuvraj blasted three fours and five maximums in his unbeaten 60 off 25 balls. Skipper MS Dhoni (46 from 28) also played a crucial role to ensure the momentum remained with India in the tense chase.

Angelo Mathews was taken for 49 in 3.1 overs while Kaushalya Weeraratne went for his 43 in his 3 and Nuwan Kulasekara for 50 in his four. Thanks to India’s brilliant batting effort, India won the match by six wickets with five balls to spare.

Earlier, having elected to bat first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka put up an impressive 206 for 7 on the board. Skipper Kumar Sangakkara led from the front for the visitors with 59 from 31 balls, a knock featuring eight fours and two sixes. Towards the end, Mathews chipped in with an unbeaten 26 from 13 balls to take Sri Lanka past the 200 mark.

Even as the other bowlers went for plenty, Yuvraj held his own with 3 for 23 before his heroics with the bat took India home.
