A prolific run-getter in the Indian domestic circuit, Suryakumar Yadav has been unlucky not to have donned the blue jersey even once in his career so far.

The 29-year-old has played for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL apart from his stint with four-time winners Mumbai Indians. With 1548 runs in 85 IPL matches at a strike-rate of 131.96, the Mumbaikar has made valuable contributions with the bat in the cash-rich league over the past seven seasons.

This year, Yadav was an integral part of the title-winning Mumbai Indians side. He amassed 424 runs in 16 matches in the season, which included two half-centuries.

Yadav came up with a valiant 71* against Chennai Super Kings in the crucial Qualifier 1 game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The gritty knock, on a sluggish Chepauk wicket against the likes of veterans Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir, provided enough evidence of his talent and class.

The Bangladesh series might just be what the doctor ordered for Yadav to announce his arrival in the international arena.
