India and England rivalry in the World cup started right from the first Cricket World Cup in 1975, when the two teams came face to face on 7 June 1975. Playing at the Lords, the English team outworked the Indian team and gained a huge victory by 202 runs. DL Amiss scored a whooping 137 runs in that match along with CM Old who scored 51 runs off 30 balls. Sunil Gavaskar owed India’s loss as he scored only 36 runs off 174 balls.
The next India vs England match took place on 22 June 1983 at Manchester where India won the match by 6 wickets, and later on the Cricket World Cup as well.
