Most Centuries in India vs New Zealand ODIs

India and New Zealand have faced each other in 110 One Day International matches since they first met during the 1975 World Cup at the Old Trafford in Manchester. The Asian team has had the edge over the Blackcaps having won 55 matches, while New Zealand have won 49 ODIs. Five matches turned without any result and one ended in a tie.


The two teams played the last ODI series in February 2020 in New Zealand. The home side emerged victorious with a 3-0 whitewash against India to avenge their 5-0 drubbing in the T20I series.


A total of 50 ODI centuries have been recorded in the India-New Zealand matches as of November 2022. Former New Zealand captain Glenn Turner was the first player to reach the three-figure mark in ODIs between the two sides. Turner’s 114 not out came against India in the 1975 World Cup match as New Zealand won by four wickets with seven balls to spare in the 231-run chase.

Former Indian opening batter Virender Sehwag has hit six centuries in India-New Zealand ODI matches. Sehwag’s six ODI hundreds against New Zealand are the most scored by any player from either side in this competition. Indian batting run-machine Virat Kohli has scored five centuries against New Zealand in 26 innings and can challenge his former India and Delhi teammate’s tally in the future. Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar has also hit five ODI centuries against New Zealand during his illustrious career.


Former New Zealand cricketer Nathan Astle has the most centuries (5) from his country against India followed by Chris Cairns (3) and Ross Taylor (3).
