Australia faced England in the 17th match of the 2024 T20 World Cup on Saturday, June 8, at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. England won the toss and elected to bowl. David Warner and Travis Head added 70 runs for the first wicket. The other top-order batters provided the right touch to the innings.
Australia posted a total of 201 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Warner scored 39 runs off 16 deliveries and was the highest scorer for the team. Chris Jordan was the pick of the bowlers and took two wickets for 44 runs in four overs.
Philip Salt and Jos Buttler provided a solid start to England. They added 73 runs for the first wicket. However, no other batter managed to score more than 30 runs for the team. England could make 165 runs for the loss of six wickets and lost the match by 36 runs. Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa took two wickets each for Australia. Zampa won the Player of the Match award for his bowling performance.
