#1 57 vs West Indies, Kingston, 2011

India lost both its openers - Parthiv Patel and Shikhar Dhawan - in less than seven overs. Virat Kohli then steadied the Indian innings with a half-century partnership with Manoj Tiwary. After putting together 58 runs for the third wicket, Tiwary too got out and Rohit Sharma joined Virat in the middle.

The two together then stitched their second-century partnership but the 110-run partnership ended as Virat pushed hard for the second run. Kohli's wicket again derailed the innings and even Rohit's 57 could save it as India were all out for 251 with 15 balls to spare. West Indies chased down India's total with seven wickets in hand.

In the deciding match of the 7-match ODI series, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan gave a great start to India as they made put together 112 for the first wicket. After India lost the first wicket in came Virat Kohli, but he departed for a duck as a result of a miscommunication with his partner, Rohit.

Virat's wicket did not stop the run flow as Rohit Sharma was relentless with his strokes. Rohit also had luck on his side that day.as he was dropped by Moises Henriques when he was on 120. He went on to become the third batsman to a score an ODI double century. Rohit was aided by MS Dhoni in helping India post a huge total as the two added 167 runs off 94 balls for the fifth wicket.

During the chase, India kept on picking up wickets at regular intervals but Maxwell's quickfire 22-ball 60 gave a glimmer of hope. After the wicket of Maxwell fell, it was Shane Watson and James Faulkner who kept Australia in the game. While Watson got out after a 22-ball 49, Faulkner went to make the then fastest century - off 57 balls - by an Australian. In spite of Faulkner's outrageous hitting, Australia lost the match by 57 runs, thanks to Rohit first double century.

In May 1994, Saeed Anwar set the record for the highest individual total in ODIs by scoring 194 against India. Coventry equalled it in 2009, but it took 13 years for a cricketer to cross it and fittingly it was Sachin Tendulkar who went past the mark to become the first batsman to score a double century in cricket.

Many thought that the record will stand for some time but that was not the case. Since Sachin's double seven more double centuries were recorded in ODIs. Of the six batsmen to score a double century, Rohit Sharma is the only batsman to achieve the feat more than once.

Nearly a year after recording his first double century, he went to improve his record and incidentally, he again ran out Virat Kohli. Unlike the previous occasion when Kohli was run out for a duck, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli put together a double century partnership for the third wicket.

While Rohit was the aggressor of the two, Kohli played a supporting role scoring 66 run out of the 202-run partnership, which ended as a result of a miscommunication. After Virat's wicket in the 39th over, Rohit added 112 runs to his tally.

As a result of Rohit's mammoth 264-run innings, India ended with a score of 404-5 at the end of 50 overs. Sri Lanka were no way close to chasing down the target set by India as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. In the end, Sri Lanka were all out 13 runs short of Rohit's score.

As India lost the wicket out Shikhar Dhawan very early in the innings Virat Kohli joined Rohit Sharma in the middle in the third over of the match. After putting together a 125-run partnership for the second wicket, Virat Kohli was run out as he showed a bit of hesitation to take the second run.

After the loss of Virat's wicket, Rohit was involved in another century partnership, this time with Ajinkya Rahane. Rohit reached his century in the 37th over and looked set for another big innings but things didn't go as planned for him. A straight ball hit by Rahane was deflected onto the leg stump at the non-striker's end and Rohit's splendid innings came to an end.

In a series where totals in excess of 300 were chased down for fun, India's 308 did not pose a challenge for the Aussies. Three seventies from Aaron Finch, Shaun Marsh and George Bailey meant that Australia registered a comfortable 7 wicket win.

India 308/8 (Rohit Sharma 124, Virat Kohli 59), Australia 309/3

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli did what they do the best - building a great partnership. They added 105 runs for the second wicket but the partnership ended abruptly when Rohit Sharma sent back Virat Kohli. Even after losing his partner, Rohit went onto to make 115 runs in the match.
