1. Rohit Sharma (16 sixes)
The third ever ODI double hundred saw a world record get re-written. It was Rohit’s day without a doubt as he set Bangalore on fire with his breathtaking knock. In the process, he hit 16 sixes which is currently the world record for the most sixes in an ODI innings. India won the match by 57 runs.
2. Shane Watson (15 sixes)
Watson could have easily made 250 that day. In fact, the rate at which he was going and considering there were still 24 overs left, he could have even made a 300. Chasing 230 to win against Bangladesh, Watson opened the innings and made 185 runs. Can you imagine someone making 185 runs out of 232? He just dismantled their spinners all over the park and ended up with 15 sixes which was the previous world record.
3. Corey Anderson (14 sixes)
Corey Anderson broke the 18 year old record of Shahid Afridi when he smashed a 36 ball century against the West Indies. That innings had totally 14 sixes in it and hence it occupies the 3rd spot on our list.
4. Xavier Marshall (12 sixes)
Some might have even forgotten him now. A player who never really fulfilled his potential, Marshall still has time on his side to make a comeback. But on that day, as a 22 yr old, Marshall coming in at number 4 against Canada, smashed a 118 ball 157 and had hit 12 sixes totally. He had actually broken the long standing world record in that match.
5. Sanath Jayasuriya (11 sixes)
A sixes list without Sanath will always surprise people, so here he makes the cut at number 5. It was way back in 1996, and Sanath made 134 runs from just 65 balls with 11 big hits to the fence. The next best was 51 and Sri Lanka registered a 34 run win.
