Stats: Most Test hundreds by a cricketer for each country

England: Alastair Cook

Despite resigning from Test captaincy, Alastair Cook remains one of the most consistent openers in the England cricket team. Ever since his debut in 2006, he has featured in 140 Tests for England and has scored 11057 runs with 53 half centuries and 30 centuries to his name.

He is currently twelfth on the list of the leading run-getters in Test cricket. He broke a 50-year-old plus record by surpassing Wally Hammond when he scored 190 against India in Kolkata in 2012 in a Test which England won by 7 wickets and going on top of the list of the most number of Test centuries by an English batsman.

India: Sachin Tendulkar

Arguably the greatest ever cricketer to have played the game, anything said about Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is too less. He made his debut in 1989 against Pakistan at Karachi and went on to play 200 Tests and 463 ODIs for India. He holds the record for scoring the most number of runs in both Tests and ODIs and is the only cricketer till date to have scored 100 international centuries.

With 51 Test centuries, he sits pretty on top of the list of the most number of centuries scored by an Indian in Tests. He broke Sunil Gavaskar’s record of 34 Test centuries 12 years ago against Sri Lanka at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi when he scored 109 in the first innings of a Test which India won by 188 runs.
