Stats: Most Test hundreds by a cricketer for each country

South Africa: Jacques Kallis

Arguably one of the greatest ever all-rounders in the history of cricket, Jacques Kallis was consistency personified. In a career which spanned almost 20 years, he featured in 166 Tests for the Proteas and is currently third on the list of the all-time leading run-scorers in Test cricket with 13289 runs to his name.

He made his debut against England in 1995 and scored his first Test century two years later against Australia. He broke Gary Kirsten’s record of the most number of centuries scored by a South African batsman by scoring his 22nd century against West Indies in 2005.

In a Test career spanning 18 years, Kallis made 45 centuries to finish as the second highest century- maker in the history of Test cricket.

Sri Lanka: Kumar Sangakkara

Undoubtedly the greatest ever Sri Lankan cricket batsman to have played, Kumar Sangakkara did not have a great debut as he just scored 23 on debut against South Africa. He took some time to get going but once he scored his first Test century against India in 2001, there was no stopping him.

He went on to play 134 matches for Sri Lanka and scored 12400 at an average of 57.40 with 52 half centuries and 38 centuries to his name. He broke his teammate Mahela Jayawardene’s record of the most number of Test centuries scored by a Sri Lankan batsman in 2013 against Bangladesh.

He played his last Test against India where he scored 32 and 18 in the two innings in a test match which India won.
