Tillakaratne Dilshan – Getting better with age

As soon as Angelo Mathews won the toss and decided to bat first, all eyes were set on the opener Tilakaratene Dilshan, who was just 55 runs away from reaching the 10,000 runs milestone. He didn’t upset the crowd too, reaching the new height and becoming the fourth Sri Lankan to ever score 10,000-plus runs in an ODI career.

• Dilshan also became the 11th cricketer overall in the ODI history of the game to score 10k runs.

• Sri Lanka are the only country to have four batsmen scoring 10,000-plus runs. India has three, while Australia, South Africa, West Indies and Pakistan have one each.
• The 38-year-old all-rounder also became the fifth player to score 10,000-plus runs and pick 100-plus wickets, his countrymen Sanath Jayasuriya tops the table with 13,430 runs and 323 wickets.

• Dilshan’s fellow opener, Kusal Perera's scored a magnificent century (116 runs). His 100 was the 80th ODI 100 made in 2015, the most made in a single calendar year. Previous record: 79 100s made in 2014.
