The International Cricket Council is hosting the eighth edition of the T20 World Cup tournament from Sunday, October 16. Originally, the competition was scheduled to be held in 2020 but due to COVID-19, the apex body postponed it until October 2022.

Hosts Australia will enter the tournament as defending champions after they bagged the title in the UAE last year. In the first round, eight teams are divided into two groups. Group A will have Sri Lanka, Namibia, UAE and Netherlands whereas Group B will have West Indies, Scotland, Zimbabwe and Ireland.

Four teams will qualify from the first round to the Super 12, where eight teams have already qualified. Group 1 of Super 12 will have Afghanistan, Australia, England, New Zealand, A1, and B2 whereas Group 2 will have India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa, B1 and A2.

The grand finale of the tournament is scheduled for Sunday, November 13. A total of seven venues across Australia will host the competition.
