World Cup 2019 was always going to be a huge tournament for David Warner. Warner, who was playing in Australian colors after 14 months, has a lot to prove, both as a player and batsman. And even though Warner had struck form in the IPL, performing in international cricket is a different scenario altogether.

The opener started cautiously in the team's opening game as he scored an unbeaten 89 off 114 balls. After getting out early against West Indies, all eyes were on Warner in the important game against India. The Southpaw scored a sluggish 56 at a strike-rate of 66.66 when his team needed to score at more than 7 runs per over. He was heavily criticised for his innings as Australia plummeted to a defeat. However, Warner struck a century against Pakistan proving his importance at the top of the order for Australia once again.
