Everything new in Genshin Impact 5.7 update

The Genshin Impact version 5.7 livestream, held on June 6, 2025, teased a wealth of information about the upcoming update. The developers revealed details about forthcoming playable characters, Skirk and Dahlia, and introduced a new weapon called Azurelight.

Apart from this, v5.7 will introduce a new permanent endgame mode called Stygian Onslaught. A brand new Story Quest and Archon Quest will be released with this version on June 18, 2025. The developers have also announced additional QoL updates and features that would be added to the game in this patch.

This article will list all the new events, Story Quests, Archon Quests, and other content that will be added to Genshin Impact version 5.7.

What's new in the Genshin Impact 5.7 update?

1) New characters

Two new characters would be playable in version 5.7:

• Skirk (5-star Cryo Sword)
• Dahlia (4-star Cryo Sword)

Skirk is one of the most popular characters, as HoYoverse has been teasing her name since the release of Tartaglia. She is Tartaglia's master and was mentioned in the voicelines of her disciple since version 1.1. Furthermore, based on the 5.7 live stream, she is a main DPS character. At the same time, Dahlia is a 4-star Hydro shielder who can also grant attack speed buffs to the active characters.

2) New banners

Version 5.7 would feature the following event wish banners over two different phases:

The 4-star Hydro unit Dahlia would be featured on both Skirk and Shenhe's banners during the first phase of version 5.7.

The Phase 1 banners will go live on June 18, 2025, while the Phase 2 banners will be available from July 8, 2025.

3) New weapon

Skirk's signature weapon, Azurelight, would also be available during the Phase 1 weapon banner, alongside Shenhe's signature weapon, Calamity Queller.

4) New Archon Quest

In version 5.7, players can access the new Archon Quest (AQ), A Space and Time for You, which will be added in the upcoming update. Furthermore, it seems that Travelers are meeting Dainsleif in this quest, and they might have a chance to see their sibling too.

Based on the gameplay showcase, it seems that this AQ is set in the Ochkanatlan region. Furthermore, the developers have also shown Dainsleif assisting the Traveler while the latter is fighting against enemies in the Ochkanatlan region.

5) Skirk's Story Quest

Skirk's Story Quest (SQ) will be released in the upcoming 5.7 update. Players can learn more about Skirk and possibly her past while playing this quest. Furthermore, if this SQ is completed before a specific date, players will receive bonus rewards such as Primogems and other materials.

6) New endgame mode

HoYoverse has announced that a new permanent event called Stygian Onslaught will be released in version 5.7. They mentioned that players could farm artifacts more easily and efficiently through this game mode. Furthermore, this mode features six different difficulties that one can complete.

Players can also challenge some of these stages in the co-op mode. If a certain amount of resin is spent on these stages for collecting rewards, they will receive additional artifacts. The rewards for this gamemode are Primogems, Mora, Hero's Wit, and a new item, Dust of Enlightenment. However, this specific Item is only available in stages four and five.

7) New events

Version 5.7 will introduce many new and exciting events for players to participate in. Furthermore, after completing the Battle of Imagined Arrays event, players can obtain a free character, Sethos. Apart from this, they can earn many rewards such as Primogems, Mora, Hero's Wit, Weapon Enhancement Ores, and other talent materials after completing these events.

8) New Item

Players can obtain a new item called Dust of Enlightenment after completing various stages in the upcoming Stygian Onslaught permanent gamemode. HoYoverse mentioned that users can obtain up to three of them in each reset of this mode. However, they can obtain more of these items by purchasing the Gnostic Hymn and Gnostic Chorus.

With these items, players can reroll a level 20 5-star artifact. If two minor affixes are selected, at least two rolls are guaranteed in these stats. They can also decide to keep the old one or the newer artifact rolled with the Dust of Enlightenment after looking at the stats of both.

9) New Echoes

In Genshin Impact version 5.7, players can unlock the new Echo cosmetics for Raiden Shogun and Shenhe. However, keep in mind that these characters should be Level 90 and Friendship level 8 to access these Envisaged Echoes. Furthermore, Travelers must consume two Keys of Echoes to unlock each stage.

10) QoL updates and system optimizations

Here are the new QoL updates and system optimizations that will be added in version 5.7:

• Quest Resource Management changes for mobile users. Players can choose to download Full or Basic resources. Selecting the former would download all the resources for the new update. Whereas, upon choosing the latter, assets related to Archon Quests, Story Quests, and Hangouts will not be downloaded automatically. Players can download resources for these quests manually if they want to complete these stories.
• Players can directly use Fragile and Transient resin to claim rewards from Leylines, Artifact, and Talent material domains. They can also use this feature in the new endgame mode, Stygian Onslaught.
• Adventurer's Handbook will contain details such as weaknesses, traits, and other information regarding World Bosses.
• When starting a new challenge or restarting a challenge in the Spiral Abyss, players can either keep their active party lineup or discard it with a single click. Challenge rewards can be directly claimed after completing Floor 12. Furthermore, a retry challenge option has been added to the finalization screen, which appears after completing a Chamber.
