The community recently expressed their concerns regarding the R6 Marketplace selling creator charms following an update to the number of items available for buying. Ubisoft released this Rainbow Six Siege Marketplace system in a Beta phase on January 30, 2024, and it has undergone several updates that added new items to it.

This article shall discuss how the Rainbow Six Siege Marketplace selling creator charms was a bad idea.

Content Creators voicing opinions regarding Marketplace selling creator charms

Before proceeding, it's worth noting that Ubisoft has pulled back the creator charms following widespread discontent from the community without any public announcement. Therefore, no longer is the Rainbow Six Siege Marketplace selling creator charms presently.

The Rainbow Six Siege Marketplace is in its Beta phase, which means that Ubisoft is slowly updating its inventory of items before the planned full release during Y9S2. However, a recent update on May 16, 2024, made Twitch Streamer charms available for sale for a short time, which didn't sit well with the community.

Content creators and prominent names in the Siege community — like Kudos, Garfieldisdoc, HaanSolo, and SuaFps among others — voiced their opinions on how this was a bad move for Siege content creators.

Players who were interested in availing a certain streamer's charm could buy it using Rainbow6 credits that cost less than $4.49, whereas a Twitch sub that wanted to get that very charm would have to spend $4.99.

And since the marketplace pricing relies heavily on supply and demand, players could get two or more creator charms for $4.49 worth of Rainbow6 credits.

Why Marketplace selling creator charms is a terrible idea

Selling creator charms was a bad move on Ubisoft's part since the studio gets 10% of any transaction occurring in the Marketplace. This meant that it would've profited from these charms multiple times while the actual streamer or creator would only have received a sub (worth $4.99 without considering regional pricing) once for a single copy of the charm.

Furthermore, there were concerns that players could sell highly sought-after charms and use a Twitch subscription using a VPN to access a low regional Twitch sub pricing to regain the charm in their inventory, only to have it up for sale once again. This would have essentially decreased the value of Rainbow6 credits.
