The final day of the summer transfer window is usually the most exciting day as far as transfers are concerned. It's likely to be no different this year too.

Clubs in need of players tend to panic-buy on this day, while other clubs hurry to close deals. The transfer deadline day tends to be extremely chaotic, but it is eagerly awaited by many fans.

Most clubs look set for the season, but a few deals could still happen on this year's transfer deadline day. On that note, here's a look at the five things to look forward to on this year's transfer deadline day.

#5 Saul Niguez's Atletico Madrid departure

Once regarded as one of the best young talents in the game, Saul Niguez endured a disappointing 2020-21 campaign.

Niguez, who has been at Atletico Madrid since 2008, looked destined for greatness at one stage. But now the Spain international is reportedly free to leave the club if a good offer arrives for him, as the player is not in Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone's long-term plans.

The 26-year-old was linked with Barcelona during the start of the transfer window, with rumours suggesting that a swap deal for Antoine Griezmann could take place. Now, Saul Niguez's likely destination looks to be the Premier League, with both Chelsea and Manchester United linked with him. Chelsea are reportedly close to signing the midfielder on an initial loan deal, though.

#4 Fringe players to leave their clubs

While there have been some interesting moves that have occurred during this year's transfer window, there are quite a few players still in the market.

One such player is Jesse Lingard, who enjoyed an excellent spell with West Ham United during the second half of last season. The Hammers were interested in signing him permanently, but could not agree a fee with his parent club Manchester United, where Lingard is clearly surplus to requirements.

Arsenal have Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles; Real Madrid could sell Luka Jovic, while Bayern Munich are rumoured to be willing to let go of right-back Bouna Sarr. Liverpool are probably the team that needs to clear a lot of deadwood, with Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi and Loris Karius still at the club and not getting game time.

Chelsea have sold Kurt Zouma to West Ham United for £31.5 million, which means they have room for the arrival of centre-back Jules Kounde from Sevilla.

Kounde is regarded as one of the best young centre-backs in the world, and was close to joining Manchester City last summer, who instead signed Ruben Dias. The France international has impressed with his performances for Sevilla, and Chelsea have been heavily linked with him for some time now.

With Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta both in their 30s, and Antonio Rudiger 28, it is clear Chelsea are planning for the future. The 22-year-old Kounde could prove to be an excellent acquisition, but it remains to be seen whether the Blues can sign him this summer.

#2 Manchester City's hunt for a striker

Harry Kane is unlikely to move to Manchester City this summer.

Manchester City entered the market wanting to sign a striker, but they are yet to do so.

They have splurged nearly £106 million to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa. While Grealish is definitely a sensational signing, he doesn't address a problem area for Manchester City. They lacked a prolific goalscorer last season, and it looks like that could be the case this season as well.

Harry Kane was their primary transfer target. but the striker has admitted that he intends to stay with Tottenham Hotspur this summer. Cristiano Ronaldo was heavily linked with City, but he is now on his way to Manchester United. Fiorentina's Dusan Vlahovic has been suggested as a possible option for Manchester City.

#1 Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid

Two global superstars have already changed clubs this summer, and Kylian Mbappe could follow suit soon.

PSG signing Lionel Messi has been suggested as a possible reason for Mbappe wanting to leave the club. The France international has been perennially linked with a move to Real Madrid. So if he doesn't go to Spain this summer, it is very likely he will join Madrid next summer when his contract with PSG expires.

Real Madrid have reportedly had a €160 million bid for the superstar forward rejected by the Ligue 1 giants. The 22-year-old is extremely keen on a move to Los Blancos, but it remains to be seen if Paris Saint-Germain let Mbappe leave this summer.
