Steven Gerrard spearheaded the greatest comeback in the UEFA Champions League in 2005, as Liverpool overturned a three-goal deficit with a stunning second-half performance against AC Milan. The Serie A giants led 3-0 at half-time and looked unstoppable on the night, as Rafa Benitez's side failed to recover after going behind in the first minute.

However, Gerrard gave his side a glimmer of hope with a stunning header, as the Reds attempted to get back in the game. Vladimir Smicer and Xabi Alonso scored two quick goals to complete a sensational comeback, as Liverpool eventually won the game on penalties despite being 3-0 at half-time.

Gerrard was named Man of the Match on the night, as the Liverpool captain proudly hoisted the trophy over his head in Istanbul.

Jose Mourinho announced himself on the big stage in some style during the 2003-04 season, as he spearheaded FC Porto to an unlikely UEFA Champions League triumph. The Portuguese giants faced AS Monaco in the final and prevailed 3-0, with Deco, Carlos Alberto and Dimitri Alenichev getting their names on the scoresheet.

Brazilian-Portuguese midfielder Deco was one of the star attractions of Mourinho's side and produced a stunning display in the center of the park. He was named UEFA Club Footballer of the Year and also picked up the Midfielder of the Season award, while he also finished the 2003-4 UCL season with the most assists in the competition.

It turned out to be Deco's last game for Porto, as he sealed a move to Barcelona and went on to enjoy a successful spell at the Camp Nou.

The 2002 UEFA Champions League final saw one of the greatest goals scored in the competition, as Zinedine Zidane's thunderous volley turned out to be the winning goal for Real Madrid on the night. Los Blancos took an early lead through Raul, but Lucio equalized for Bayer Leverkusen, as the Bundesliga giants threatened to cause a major upset.

However, Zidane's wonder-goal just before the half-time whistle turned out to be a priceless strike for Real Madrid, as they held on for an important victory to win the competition for the ninth time in their history.

The game will also be remembered for Iker Casillas' magnificent cameo, as he came on as a substitute for the injured Cesar Sanchez and made a string of stunning saves.
