Ajax prodigy Matthijs de Ligt has garnered wide acclaim due to his majestic displays in the current campaign. The Dutch center-back is enjoying a meteoric rise to fame and already proved his calibre in the biggest stages of the game.

Barring the superior defensive abilities of De Ligt, the 19-year-old is already leading his club at such a young age. Due to his exploits, Barcelona are desperately trying to secure the services of another Ajax wonderkid. But the Catalan giants are expected to face a tough battle from Juventus and Bayern Munich to land the Dutch prodigy.

Although there are reports that Barcelona are firm favourites to land De Ligt, the player himself confirmed that he is still pondering about his future.

According to SPORT, Matthijs de Ligt answered some of the questions regarding his future in Instagram.

“I don’t think that they will send me for more money than Frenkie (De Jong). Normally they pay more for a midfielder,” De Ligt replied about his future.

“But I don’t have any idea, that’s up to Ajax, I don’t decide it. Frenkie went for a fair amount and we’ll see,” he added.

When asked about his possible destination, De Ligt gave nothing away in his reply.

“I haven’t chosen yet, so I have no idea, I’m only focused on the end of the season.”
