Transfer news and rumours: 20 January 2016

Gonzalo Higuain has been linked with a move to Chelsea

James Rodriguez is a wanted manThere are just 11 days to go in the winter transfer window of 2016 and so far, deals have been few across Europe and around the world. The big boys, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and various English Premier League clubs have been linked with plenty of players but none of the deals seem to be reaching fruition. Here's a roundup of the transfers rumours and confirmed deals from across the top leagues:

#1 Serie A

Gonzalo Higuain has been linked with a move to Chelsea

Europe's top scorer and former Real Madrid striker, Gonzalo Higuain, has been linked with a move to English defending champions, Chelsea, report London 24. Chelsea currently employ Diego Costa, Loic Remy, Radamel Falcao and Kenedy as their strikers but a player of Higuain's quality don't come too often and a move for him could benefit both parties.

However, Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis is adamant that if any team wants to buy the Argentinian, they'll have to meet his release clause which is a whopping £72.4m. Even for someone like Chelsea, that looks like a stretch.

Fiorentina, Inter, Juventus and AC Milan are reportedly ready to sign Barcelona centre-back, Marc Bartra. The defender hasn't been able to break into the first team ahead of Gerard Pique and Javier Mascherano and could look elsewhere for a starting spot given that the UEFA Euro is not too far away.

Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has claimed that he's chased Alessio Cerci all his life. The Italian is currently owned by Atletico Madrid but has been on loan at AC Milan for the season.

“Cerci is the player I have chased the most during my life,” the president of the Grifone told Sky Sport. “I hope this choice will pay dividends.”

#2 La Liga

Wolfsburg's Ricardo Rodriguez has once again been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Marca, the Spanish newspaper, claim that Serie A side, Roma, have put in an 8-million-euro bid for Real Madrid defender, Nacho. Nacho – much like Marc Bartra at Barcelona – has failed to break into Madrid's first team ahead of Sergio Ramos, Rafael Varane and Pepe. However, with Real Madrid having been slapped with the two window ban, they might not want to take the risk of selling the Spaniard unless someone else is coming in to replace him.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, has been linked with Wolfsburg defender, Ricardo Rodriguez, according to Marca. The Swiss international has been on the Los Blancos' radar for a while and it finally looks like the deal could materialise this transfer window.

A few days back, Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique confirmed that the club were on the lookout for a few more players and Celta Vigo's Nolito is one player continuously linked with the club. The Spaniard was instrumental in Celta Vigo's 4-1 thrashing of Barcelona and has ever since been linked with a move to the Bernabeu.

Earlier this window, Real Madrid legend Carlos, vowed to bring Neymar to the club if he got a role in the backroom staff of Zinedine Zidane but the Brazilian has clarified his statements and said that bringing Neymar to the Bernabeu is pretty much impossible.

#3 Premier League

Romelu Lukaku is wanted at Manchester United

One of the league's top strikers, Romelu Lukaku, has been slapped a price tag worth sixty-five-million-pounds to fend away interest from giants, Manchester United, report the Telegraph. Everton have already sold Steven Naismith to Norwich this window and will look to hold on to the big Belgian at least till the end of the window.

Speaking of Manchester United, they're on the lookout for another creative midfielder with Real Madrid's James Rodriguez seemingly on the top of the list, report Sport Witness. United have struggled to score goals or even create chances this season with the likes of Juan Mata, Memphis Depay, Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Ander Herrera, so someone in the mould of Rodriguez would greatly help them take a turn for the better.

Elsewhere, Arsenal are still on the lookout for a defensive midfielder and the two players topping their list are Borussia Monchengladbach's Granit Xhaka and Bayer Leverkusen's Lars Bender , report the Telegraph.

Much like United, Liverpool are on the lookout for someone who could score goals; they've been linked with former Real Madrid prodigy and current Juventus striker, Alvaro Morata but at the same time are looking to offload consistently inconsistent England star, Daniel Sturridge. West Ham have been linked with the former Chelsea and Manchester City man.

Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has a price

Bundesliga's top scorer and overall footballing machine, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has a price tag: £53.5m, report Sportsmole. Clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Chelsea are all known admirers. However, the chances of Borussia Dortmund letting go of their star man in this window are almost little to none.

Meanwhile, Leicester City striker Andrej Kramaric has left the club to join Hoffenheim on a six-month loan deal after failing to start a single game for the 2nd place Premier League team this season.

PSG star David Luiz wants Chelsea man, Diego Costa, to join him in Paris. The former Chelsea man spoke highly of the Brasilian-born Spanish international calling him 'an excellent human being'. Given Chelsea's pursuit of strikers, it's possible they'd hold on to the fiery striker till the end of the window.
