Hello and welcome to the Premier League latest transfer news and rumours of the day! Here are the best stories of the day

#5 Pochettino speaks about transfers

Mauricio Pochettino has spoken on Tottenham's transfer strategy. The North London outfit didn’t sign a single player in the summer transfer window and it is likely that they do the same in January.

In the meantime, Pochettino admitted that Spurs don’t necessarily have to sell players to raise funds to sign new players. For them, it is all about finding the player that suits their system.

"It’s not dependent on some players leaving," he said. "It’s more about finding the right player who fits for us, not only in the football side but is going to be a player that fits in all the areas.

The Spurs boss then mentioned that it is actually harder to sign players in the winter market, suggesting that the Lilywhites might not sign anyone in the winter market. He did, however, state that should the opportunity arise, they would look to improve the squad.

"We know very well that summer is always difficult but winter is worse. Sure for us, it’s going to be difficult for us to add players.

"I don’t expect to add players but, of course, if in the end, we have the opportunity to add the right players we are going to try, we are always open in trying to improve the squad."

Finally, he said that Spurs might need to start spending if they want to win trophies in the future.

"I saw a stat the other day about how teams were spending money in the last 10 years and we were on the bottom in England and Europe. We’re doing a fantastic job but, if we want to be real contenders, we need to operate in a different way in the future,” Pochettino said.

Empoli midfielder Miha Zajc is on the radar of two Premier League clubs, according to his agent Jaka Lucu. Newcastle United had been linked with the midfielder and their fans might be pleased with what Lucu had to say.

The agent of Empoli star claimed that the type of player that he is makes him very suitable to the Premier League. He believes that the 23-year-old’s quick understanding of the game runs parallel with the speed in England but also cautioned that the market has only just opened.

"It is true that at least two Premier League clubs have shown interest in Miha," Zajc's agent said. "The profile of a player like him in England is increasingly sought after.

"It brings unconventional solutions and added value to the team. In my opinion, the speed with which Miha perceives football is ideal for the Premier League. But the market has just begun."

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera is wanted by his former club Athletic Club Bilbao, according to the Basque outfit’s sporting director Rafael Alkorta. The Basque midfielder was signed by Manchester United in 2014 when the Red Devils paid his release clause and could now be on his way back.

Herrera is not the only player on their radar as the likes of Javi Martinez and Fernando Llorente are also wanted. However, Alkorta admits that no progress has been made yet and that they will discuss how to get forward with this on Tuesday.

"We are interested in Javi Martínez, Ibai, Ander Herrera, [Fernando] Llorente... we're interested in all of them," Alkorta said.

"We still haven't made progress. We'll get together on Tuesday to see what can be done. I have just returned and this week we will look at our options.”

#2 Chelsea

Barella wanted by Chelsea

The want for Callum Hudson-Odoi seems to be very real as Bayern Munich have offered a staggering £35 million to sign the youngster, according to Sky Sports. The Chelsea teenager has been on the Bavarians’ radar for a while now and it seems as though they are going to pay what Chelsea want for him.

It looks like the German giants are completely banking on the English youngster being a success in the Bundesliga.

Meanwhile, Sky also report that the Londoners are eying Nicolo Barella of Cagliari is a replacement for the outgoing Cesc Fabregas. The Spaniard is on his way to Monaco to join Thierry Henry’s team and Sarri definitely will need to replace him.

And he seems to have targeted the 21-year-old youngster but he won’t come for cheap. The midfielder’s contract with the Italian outfit runs until 2022 and it would take Chelsea around £45 million to sign the talented midfielder.

#1 Manchester madness

A steep price for Dybala

Manchester United are back in the madness zone after a break of a few days. The Red Devils have been linked with a lot of players – as usual – and today, we go back to the classic days of Dybala.

According to reports, the Old Lady would be keen to sell the player to the club interested – United have been linked – should they make a profit of £90 million on the Argentine. He was signed for £28 million, so £118 million is the amount.

Meanwhile, journalist David Amoyal has stated that there is no way that Napoli will sell Kalidou Koulibaly in the winter.

“I think in the summer, there’s probably no better time to sell, let’s see what happens,” he said.

“But I think in January there’s no formula that he’s gone and if I have to bet now, I bet he stays next season too.”
