The Footy Mumble: Of Beggars and Misers!

Di Canio ready to pay for signings!

Not every club is awash with money like Manchester City or Chelsea. Or even Manchester United or Arsenal. Or even Swansea and Aston Villa. And that has forced Swindon manager Paolo Di Canio to announce:

“I will put my own money in to keep them. I will spend £20,000 or £30,000 and put my money in to keep them for as long as we can, because I care and I want to win. I’m sure with them we have more chance to win.”

He was referring to the loan players at the club, with the club short of cash to spend in January.

“I’m not going to start selling my houses in Italy, but I want to keep those players,” he said.

“When I die I will have a bit less money but will have the victory as a manager.

“I’ve spent big money on solicitors in the past; you can imagine what I would spend on my players.”

Now that’s one spirited manager, alright!

Demba Ba forgets to pay car wash after Chelsea move!

It seems Demba Ba’s transfer to Chelsea has messed around too much with his head, as he has reportedly forgotten to pay his car wash back in Newcastle its dues!

The striker reportedly left without paying a company, LJD Valet, £40 for cleaning his car right before leaving for Chelsea. The owner even tried to contact Ba during a Tweet session, but got no answer.

‘#askba are u ever gonna pay me the £40 for valeting ur car? take it as a no as u moved away,’ he tweeted.

For a striker being paid £90,000 in wages, he sure seems miserly!

The saga ends!

Arsenal’s transfer saga has finally ended, with forward Theo Walcott seemingly set to stay at the club.

The British media claim that he has been offered a deal worth £25 million over the next 5 years. Walcott will land his favoured central striker role and £90,000 in wages every week. He will also receive £3 million as a signing-on bonus.

Arsenal fans, after years of seeing their top stars leave, should be happy to see this one taking place.

Daily Transfer Updates

In today’s transfer news, Turkish club Galatasaray have made a bid for Inter’s Wesley Sneijder. The club have reportedly made an offer of around £10 million, with the midfielder offered around €4.5 million in wages.

This would work out to around £70,000 a week – a full £100,000 lesser than what Manchester United reportedly offered him 2 years ago.

Considering he rejected that offer, this one seems doomed even before it begins.

Meanwhile, Manchester City seem to be interested in replacing Mario Balotelli with Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.

The news was confirmed by Manchester City assistant coach Angelo Gregucci, who said:

I don’t know if the club will lay siege to Napoli for Cavani, but every club with a player of the highest level will be courted by bigger clubs. Mancini decides the transfer targets with the new directors.” said Gregucci.

If Cavani should want a new adventure, I expect they’d let him go.”
