Matchday 5 of the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League saw five more teams join the qualified trio of Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Paris St. Germain in the knockout stage of the competition after Christmas.

With Galatasaray scoring their first goal of this season's competition, in a 1-1 home draw with Club Brugge, all 32 teams in the group stage of the 2019-20 Champions League have scored at least once.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain's 2-2 draw at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid marked the first two goals they conceded in the competition this season. The stalemate in the Spanish capital meant that German champions Bayern Munich are the only team to have won on each of the five Matchdays.

When RB Salzburg's striker Patson Zaka opened the scoring in the Austrian team's 4-1 win at Genk, it made Zambia the 103rd different country to provide a goal-scorer in the UEFA Champions League.

A goal-rich Matchday saw over 50 goals scored for the fourth-consecutive Matchday this season. On that note, let us meet the 5 players with the most goals and assists in this season's competition.

#5: Hakim Ziyech (Ajax): 2 goals and 5 assists

With 5 assists from 5 games, Ajax's Moroccan midfielder Hakim Ziyech has the most assists in this season's Champions League

Ziyech kickstarted his exploits this season when he provided an assist in Ajax's 3-0 home win over LOSC Lille on Matchday 1. The 26-year-old scored his first goal of this season's competition in his team's 3-0 away win in Valencia on the second Matchday before providing a hat-trick of assists in a thrilling 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.

Continuing his good European form, Ziyech had a hand in both of Ajax's goals in the Eredivisie side's 2-0 away win at LOSC Lille on Matchday 5, scoring one and providing an assist.

#4: Raheem Sterling (Manchester City): 5 goals and 2 assists

The Kingston-born English striker scored a goal and provided an assist in Manchester City's 2-0 home win over Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb on Matchday 2 before scoring his first hat-trick in the competition and providing 2 assists in the English champions' 5-1 home win over tournament debutants Atalanta.

Raheem Sterling also scored in City's 1-1 draw away at Atalanta on Matchday 4.

The 24-year-old is one of 6 players to have scored 5 (or more) goals in this season's Champions League.

#3: Heung-Min Son (Tottenham Hotspur): 5 goals and 2 assists

Like his Premier League colleague at Manchester City, Raheem Sterling, Tottenham Hotspur's Heung-Min Son also has 5 goals and 2 assists in this season's Champions League.

Son opened the scoring for Tottenham in their Matchday 2 home game with Bayern Munich before the Bavarian giants burst through the floodgates and condemned Spurs to their worst ever home defeat (2-7).

The South Korean striker then scored a pair of braces in Tottenham's home and away wins over Crvena Zvezda before providing an assist in a come-from-behind 4-2 home win over Olympiacos which sealed Spurs' passage to the Round of 16.

With 5 goals in this season's Champions League, Son has registered his best season-goal tally in the competition, after scoring four times in each of the two previous editions.

#2: Erling-Braut Haaland (RB Salzburg): 8 goals and 1 assist

The 19-year-old Norwegian became one of only nine players to score a hat-trick on his Champions League debut when he scored thrice in Salzburg's 6-2 home win over Genk. In the process, Erling Braut Haaland became the third-youngest player and one of only 4 teenagers to score a Champions League hat-trick.

Haaland scored a goal in Salzburg's 3-4 loss at Liverpool, netted twice in his team's 3-2 home defeat to Napoli, and also scored in the 1-1 draw at the Italian side to become one of only 4 players to score in each of their four games in the competition.

When the teenage substitute came on and scored in his side's 4-2 away win at Genk on Matchday 5, he became the first teenager to score in each of his first 5 games in the Champions League, and only the third player to do so, Alessandro Del Piero and Diego Costa being the others.

Haaland now has the most goals after his first 5 games in the Champions League, Diego Costa had 7 and Del Piero had 5 after their first 5 games in the competition.

The Norwegian teenager will become the first player to score in each of his first 6 games in the Champions League if he scores on Matchday 6, which would also equal Cristiano Ronaldo's record of scoring in every match of a group-stage campaign.

#1: Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich): 10 goals

Robert Lewandowski became the first player to score on each of the five Matchdays of this season's Champions League when he scored Bayern's second of the night away at Crvena Zvezda.

The goal opened the floodgates for the prolific Pole, as he netted thrice more in a devastating 14-minute spell to record his first quadruple in the competition since scoring all four goals for Borussia Dortmund in a 4-1 home win over Real Madrid in the first leg of the 2012-13 semi-finals.

Lewandowski, in the process, recorded the fastest quadruple in Champions League history and became the first player after Lionel Messi to record multiple 4-goal hauls in the competition.

The Poland international's 10th of the campaign helped him usurp early pace-setter Haaland and top the goal-scoring charts after 5 Matchdays of this season's competition.
