It's nearly time to say goodbye to Artemis and welcome Asteria (Image via Twitter/Utopia1273)

Based on rumors and speculation, the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 map has quite possibly been leaked. While there's no visual representation yet, there are a few hints as to what POIs players can expect to find on the island.

To begin with, shortly before Chapter 3 Season 4 could begin, leaker GMatrixGames discovered a brand new map within the game's files. At first, this made no sense. Many speculated that it was related to the upcoming Unreal Editor for Fortnite EUFN/Creative 2.0, but that was soon debunked.

Epic *might* be working on a new map for Chapter 3 Season 5.Epic has been updating the future season's Epic Games launch options for testing, and they included theseOriginally it was just "Test Map", now "Test Map" has been changed to Artemis, and a new map (??) is the main??

With Chapter 4 now confirmed, it goes without saying that the new map codenamed "Asteria" will play host to the new phase of the game's storyline. Unfortunately, apart from the map's existence, there's nothing else to go on. Thankfully, according to a tweet dating back to August 2021, there are a few possibilities that can be taken into consideration.

Details of the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 map may have been leaked during Chapter 2 Season 7

According to veteran leaker HYPEX, his tweet from August 2021, which contained unreleased locations for a map then codenamed "Demeter," likely includes the upcoming POIs for the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 map.

In a conversation with theorist FNChiefAko, HYPEX mentions that the leak from August 2021 may be referring to Asteria. Given that Epic Games has a habit of using random names as placeholders to throw dataminers off track, "Demeter" may have served a similar purpose.

Unreleased locations for a map codenamed "Demeter", it's in VERY early development and its probably for survival or Chapter 3:- Canoe Shop- Dragons Maw Cave- Farm- Forest Ruins- Haunted Hotel- Hiking Visitors Center- Hydro Power Station- Camp- Castle- Mansion- Prison

That being said, if the leaks turn out to be true, players are going to be hot-dropping on a new island filled with exciting locations and places to explore. Here are the names of the new POIs as discovered within the files:

  • Canoe Shop
  • Dragons Maw Cave
  • Farm
  • Forest Ruins
  • Haunted Hotel
  • Hiking Visitors Center
  • Hydro Power Station
  • Camp
  • Castle
  • Mansion
  • Prison

Readers must keep in mind that these names may potentially be placeholders as well and may not be the final names for different locations on the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 map. That said, amongst these names, the Dragons Maw Cave POI certainly raises a few eyebrows and for good reason.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 map may play host to dragons

While it has been mentioned that the names of POIs could be mere placeholders, there might be some truth behind the Dragons Maw Cave location. As outlandish as it may seem, there's a strong possibility that dragons or something similar will be added to Chapter 4.

To elaborate, in September 2022, leakers discovered that Epic Games is working on rideable flying animals. Given that land-based rideable animals already exist, this wasn't a hoax or data being misinterpreted.

FORTNITE ARE WORKING ON RIDEABLE FLYING ANIMALS 🔥You will be able to Boost & Idle. And it's most likely what that "Saddle" gappler-looking item is for.

Taking into consideration that a massive creature like Klombo could co-exist with players, having large flying beasts roaming the skies in-game is not too absurd of a concept. That being said, if there are rideable animals added to the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 map, they will likely not be too large.

Unlike Syrax and other flying behemoths from House of the Dragon, the in-game ones may be a bit larger than raptors. While the goal of the developers will be to make flying rideable wildlife useful, making them overpowered is certainly out of the question.

@HYPEX Yes!! Give us dragons, or eagles, I'll even take seagulls

Furthermore, it's rather unlikely that the flying animal will have a special attack. Perhaps at most, they'll be able to do death-dives on top of foes, and players will be able to use items/weapons while in the air. With all that said, this is largely based on speculation.

Also, given that the tweet containing this information is from August 2021, the names of the POIs may have changed in the final version of the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 map. In either case, players will not have to wait very long to find out for themselves.
