Fortnite Mega Chapter 4 Season 2 gameplay trailer reveals Katana, Grind Rails, and fascinating POIs

The gameplay trailer for Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 has been released, showing off significant additions and improvements that are sure to impress players once they drop onto the new island. In the first scene of the trailer, the three Battle Pass skins—Drift Remix, Highwire, and Thunder— are seen jumping onto a platform with the aid of a grappler-like item.

Upon touching down on the island, players will be briefed on a new movement mechanic called Grinding that will allow them to glide along the Neon Rails encircling the entire Mega City POI. Players can even use their weapons while grinding. It appears that the mechanism of the rails will be similar to that of the existing ziplines, but it remains to be seen if players can travel both ways.

The trailer then goes on to showcase some of the new, powerful weaponry that will be available as part of the new season's loot pool. Firstly, we have an auto-lock "Smart Pistol" that can track its target and fire rapid bullets without the user having to do anything.

Secondly, there will be a new shotgun that looks a merge between the Thunder and the Drum Shotgun but with a larger barrel. The weapon is being considered a worthy alternative to the Pump Shotgun, which is supposed to return this season as per leaks.

Thirdly, there's a new Assault Rifle in Fortnite, which is essentially a reworked version of the Combat AR from Chapter 2. It is expected to deal a lot of damage and fire rapidly, but its recoil is rather severe. Fourthly, there may be a new submachine gun, which looks like a Combat SMG but has a longer range. Players will be able to rush into battle with these weapons in hand.

Finally, the trailer confirmed the Katana melee weapon in Fortnite, which is capable of both heavy and fast slash attacks. It can also be used to quickly dash towards an opponent and knock them out with a powerful hit.

In keeping with the season's cyberpunk theme, a number of new vehicles will be coming to Fortnite. These include futuristic motorcycles, cutting-edge automobiles, and a dazzling red sports car inspired by the Whiplash, all of which can be used by players to cruise around Mega City in style.

Eren Yeager from the famous anime Attack on Titan, armed with his Waist Grappler mythic weapon and a unique cosmetic emote that allows him to leap over barriers, was unveiled towards the end of the teaser. The grappler instantly catapults players into the air with a spinning motion, allowing them to quickly and efficiently eliminate their foes with dual swords.

A feature of the mythic weapon is the ability to "grab and slash," which allows Loopers to grip their opponents and immediately kill them with their dual swords.

The trailer concluded with the reveal of the previously-removed Loot Lake POI. It will return to the island via a Rift encounter, and OG players can't wait to see it alongside the soon-to-be-added Dojo POI, which will be situated close to Mega City.

Fortnite servers are currently down, and the Chapter 4 Season 2 update is set to drop soon.
