Fortnite update v22.40 is quite possibly the last major one for Chapter 3 Season 4 and this phase of the storyline as well. The update is set to arrive today, November 15, 2022, at 4:00 am Eastern Time. Although Epic Games usually does not reveal details about the new content that's coming, they've provided hints this time around.

As with every downtime, the servers will be shut down 30 minutes prior to the update occurring. Players still enjoying either the BR mode or STW mode should wrap up their sessions by 3:30 am latest to avoid losing on in-game progression.

How long will the Fortnite downtime last today (November 15)?

With this being the last major update for Chapter 3 itself, the developers are bound to stuff it with content. That said, implementing and checking to ensure that things work as intended will take some time.

Considering that large updates often break or hinder certain aspects of the game, the developers will take their time to ensure everything works as needed. That said, that downtime shouldn't last more than two to three hours at most.

New content and changes for Fortnite update v22.40

Based on leaks and rumors that can be seen on social media, the content being added in for the Fortnite update v22.40 will be off the hook. To start with, Epic Games has more or less confirmed two new features: the first is the 40v40 Zero Build LTM, while the other is the new vehicle, "High Octane," coming from Rocket League. Both of these have been hinted at for a while and it would be great to finally have them in the game.

The 40v40 mode will likely feature a few challenges and XP bonuses, while the Rocket League crossover will feature various in-game rewards. The finer details of the two new features will be revealed during the downtime. Based on this information, they will both go live once the servers are switched on again.

Speaking of vehicles, it's very likely that helicopters and biplanes will be added in as well during the Fortnite update v22.40. With Chapter 3 ending, it's now or never to see them back in-game. If they do not get added back in during today's update, the only other possibility is November 29's hotfix or Chapter 4 itself.

According to prominent leakers such as ShiinaBR, there's a small possibility that the Miles Morales skin will finally be added to Fortnite. Considering Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales releases for PC on November 18, it lines up perfectly with this update.

Since Epic Games has a history of releasing cosmetics in-game prior to a featured game or film going live, that may be the case this time around as well. However, until the downtime begins, there's no way of being sure about it.

Lastly, coming to bugs and glitches, while many do persist in-game, it looks like the update v22.40 won't address any major ones. Most of the BR and STW issues are slated to be fixed in the next update or are still in development. The fixes will be implemented in Chapter 4 once and for all.
