Fortnite: Where to dance at a lit campfire at night

In Fortnitemares 2022, certain POIs on the island have been given rather dark ambient lighting. The moment players enter certain POIs like the Reality Tree and Knowby Cabin, everything turns dark. This is rather odd as those outside the immediate vicinity of the POI can see things as bright as day.

That said, it can still get dark and spooky in certain locations. This is when campfires come into play and can be rather useful. For this reason, Epic Games wants players to dance at a lit campfire at night to earn 15,000 XP. Here's how to go about the task quickly and illuminate the night sky.

Where to dance at a lit campfire at night in Fortnite - A step-by-step guide

1) Load into a match and mark Looper Landing on the minimap

Since this challenge has no combat associated with it, completing it should be an easy task. The goal is simple: find a campfire, wait until nightfall, ignite it, and perform an emote. To start off, players will first need to mark a certain location known as Looper Landing on the minimap.

For those who have been playing since the start of Chapter 3, they know exactly where to find this iconic location on the map. Newcomers can find this location at the eastern edge of the map near a crashed airship. For better reference, it's the island behind Launchpad. It's hard to miss with the runway platform floating above it.

2) Land at the POI and wait until nightfall

After marking the POI, wait for the match to start and plan your jump accordingly. Depending on which route the Battle Bus takes, reaching this tiny island may take some time. That said, given how secluded it is, the odds of an opponent landing here are slim to none.

This makes it the perfect location to wait peacefully without having to worry about being attacked by other opponents. Once on the ground, explore the neighboring islands and secure loot while there's daylight left to burn.

3) Ignite the campfire and emote in front of it

When it starts to get dark and visibility begins to fade, it's time to head back to the campfire and ignite it. Those playing in the Zero Build mode will only be able to ignite it once within a certain timeframe. That said, be sure to ignite it only after it gets dark.

Those in the normal mode don't have to worry about this as they can simply use wood to restart the campfire. Once it has been lit, emote nearby to complete the challenge. Based on how the game's mechanics work, any emote should work fine.

Things to keep in mind while attempting this challenge

Although Looper Landing is the ideal place to complete this challenge peacefully, depending on where Storm Circles form, players may have to rotate inward. That said, here are a few more safe campfire locations where the challenge can be carried out:

  • Sunken Suburbs
  • Floaties Boats
  • The Devoured
  • Drill Hill
  • The Last Legs

Remember not to use the campfire beforehand when playing in the Zero Build mode. Furthermore, keeping a low profile while waiting for nightfall is the best strategy to complete this challenge easily.
