Is Midas coming back in Fortnite Chapter 4? Explained

Midas has been arguably one of the most important characters in Fortnite lore, despite not being an active member of the storyline for over 10 seasons now. He debuted in Chapter 2 and immediately became both a fan favorite and extremely important.

He died, or so gamers thought, and was thus removed from the storyline. However, his spirit and essence remained on the island, impacting the gameplay. It was then revealed that he was never seen dead, so it stands to reason that he's still alive even to this day.

As for what he's been doing, that's anyone's guess. However, a recent teaser might have indicated when he's set to make a dramatic return to the island.

Fortnite Chapter 4 teaser includes Midas' summer variant

Given his mysterious absence, Midas' potential return has been a long time coming. His return has been hinted at and teased for a while, so it's been a big surprise that he's not been back in the game in some way yet.

Fortnite's official Twitter account recently posted a tease about Midas' return.

Midas' summer variant is in the teaser, which isn't technically him, but it's as close a reference as they can give. Additionally, tons of Midas' closest friends are in the video. It's clearly a reference to him and given the rumors of his potential return, it's probably intentional.

Furthermore, a recent leak was uncovered that thickened the plot. A Twitter user pointed out that files were added for a well-dressed spy. That is another almost plain-as-day reference to Midas.

Epic Games knows many people think Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4's live event will bring back Midas, so this feels like another intentional nod. It's hard to imagine all of this being purely coincidental.

Epic Games rarely ever does anything without detailed intention. There's no way they did so twice in the span of a few days. Fans can't wait to see what the title has in store for them in the live event.

There's no telling what the storyline will entail in either the live event or the next season. Epic Games has largely kept those details under wraps, so players don't know much. This makes it difficult to predict if or how Midas might fit in. It seems very likely that he will, but without much information, it's hard to say.

It is possible that what happened in Chapter 3 Season 1 will happen again. In the past, the map flipped and brought back parts of the Chapter 1 map.

If the map flipped back to Chapter 2's map, Midas would be right at home. Time will tell if that's what happens this time around as well. Keep in mind that while the teaser did come from Fortnite's official account, it's not confirmed. They have not stated that Midas is returning and the leak doesn't confirm that, either.

It's very possible, but until he's seen in-game or confirmed by Epic, this is a speculative theory at best.
