Midas confirmed to return in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1

Midas has been missing from Fortnite for well over two years now. He was last seen on a raft, which was subsequently devoured by a loot-shark at the start of Chapter 2 Season 3. After failing to calm The Storm and break The Loop, he was left a broken man with nothing to live for.

His arch nemesis, the Imagined Order, had succeeded in overcoming everything he had thrown at them. While being eliminated by a loot-shark should be the final curtain call for most characters, Midas is not the average joe. As stated by Donald Mustard, he's very much alive and kicking.

Although his presence cannot be felt on the island in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1, Epic Games continues to drop hints that he's still around. The latest of these hints comes in the form of an upcoming/yet to be released Augment (perk) called "Midas Touch".

What is the "Midas Touch" Augment and what does it do in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1?

Aside from confirming yet again that Midas is alive and well, the "Midas Touch" Augment grants players a one-time loot of 40 AR Ammo (medium bullets). It also gives players an "X" amount of gold bars every time they eliminate an opponent (player/AI).

While this new Augment has been discovered in the game files along with several others, there's no telling when it'll be added to the game itself. With players still getting the hang of how to use the current 22 Augments (perks) that are available, there's no room to add more. These will likely be added sometime during mid-season.

Coming back to Midas, there's still no clear indication as to when he'll be added back to the storyline. However, some hints that are present in-game suggest it won't be long. There are two special cosmetic bundles that fit right into Midas' aesthetic taste: Double Agent Pack and Golden Touch Quest Pack.

How do the Double Agent Pack and Golden Touch Quest Pack relate to Midas in Fortnite?

Both of these bundles contain characters that were present in the storyline when Midas was still alive. Although they are cosmetic reskins to a large extent, they do play into the lore of the Chapter 2 era.

The Double Agent Pack contains three characters in white and black styles with gold inlays, while the Golden Touch Quest Pack contains none other than Marigold. Created by concept artist Kitsu, she's the female counterpart of Midas. However, it's still up for debate as to whether or not she is his sister, daughter, or wife. Since the lore is unclear, it's rather sketchy on that front.

Everything else aside, having these bundles back in the item shop is a clear indication that something is brewing. Since they don't stay forever and are only added back during certain occasions, some major storyline changes are indeed just beyond the horizon.

On that note, it's safe to assume that Midas will be back soon, but it's hard to say exactly when. With multiple major storyline advancements taking place simultaneously in Fortnite, there's no telling how Epic Games is planning to reintroduce him to the community.

Furthermore, with the version of the Imagined Order that Midas once knew was completely destroyed and The Zero Point in safe hands, what will his new role encompass? Will he help maintain the peace or seek to take control of things and once more assume the role of an anti-hero in Fortnite Chapter 4?
