Character 18, also known as Rebel, was added to the Fortnite island following the update v23.30. She can be found at The Hall of Whispers, a landmark located west of Slappy Shores in the snow/ice biome of the map.

When interacted with, players can hire her for 100 gold bars and/or purchase a Falcon Scout (Epic) for 250 gold bars. It should be noted that this item cannot be purchased from Rebel after the NPC is hired.

In addition to being an NPC on the island in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1, Rebel is also one of the first skins to be introduced to the game during Chapter 1 Season 7. The cosmetic is part of the Robo Rebels Set, which was last available in the Item Shop on December 1, 2022.

Given her time of arrival on the island, there's no doubt that the addition of Rebel alongside others such as Renegade Shadow and Wild Card points at some upcoming event. Although the character is not aligned to any faction in-game, their bio is far from convincing, reading:

"Robotic rabble rouser Rebel always roots for the underdog. With a heist and an inter-crew faceoff coming, will she pick a side, or watch from the sidelines?"

Given her bio, it's clear that Epic Games will be introducing some sort of 'crew' and/or 'heist' mechanics in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. With every new NPC being added to the island, they're slowly building up suspense and putting the pieces in place for a grand reveal.

According to early information from well-known leaker HYPEX, there will be a new mechanic called "Wanted System." Players will be able to pay 100 gold bars to "Reduce Heat." At the moment, it's largely unclear if this will somehow tie into the already existing Bounty Board mechanic or be something entirely new.

Additionally, the "Most Wanted'' posters that have sprung up all around the island are most likely related to the game's upcoming mechanics. Furthermore, the masked individual being teased on these 'posters' is most likely going to be a new skin.

Based on all these facts, it's pretty evident that Rebel is here for a reason. However, according to her in-game statement, she wants nothing to do with what's about to come. Here's what she says when players first interact with her during a match:

"I'm not getting tangled up in the crews and their heists."

While it's not yet clear what's about to happen, the developers are certainly building towards something major in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. Although it's too soon to say what it could be, it may be a 'heist-themed' season.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 may revolve around a massive in-game heist

Given the history of certain factions in-game, it's not too difficult to imagine a 'crew' that's capable of pulling off heists. While it's largely unclear what this 'crew' is after, there's definitely a lot worth stealing on the island.

Perhaps Chapter 4 Season 2 may revolve around a faction that wants to loot and plunder the island's riches for themselves. This would explain why numerous 'most wanted' posters are being placed all over the island.

The new "Wanted System" could integrate into the seasonal theme to become a core mechanic/feature. Players that are being hunted or have recently 'plundered' valuables could use gold bars to "reduce the heat on them."

Given that The Ageless has champions all over the island, becoming anonymous to avoid being detected makes plenty of sense. On that note, while it's a long stretch, this could even be how Epic Games re-introduces the iconic Midas character to Fortnite's storyline.

Considering how popular he is in the game's lore, having him lead a 'crew' or a 'gang' in-game would definitely make for an interesting storyline. Nevertheless, this is all just wishful thinking for the time being. With roughly 38 days to go until Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 begins, a lot can happen to completely change the entire course of events in-game.
