Ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, there will be eight warm-up matches involving all teams that have directly qualified for the Super 12 stage. There are 16 T20 World Cup 2021 teams. Eight teams have been placed in the qualifying round, while the other have already received a spot in the Super 12s.
The eight nations in the qualifying round, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Namibia, Holland, Ireland and Scotland will play a few T20Is before the ICC T20 World Cup gets underway. Soon after the qualifying round gets underway, the warm-up matches for the eight nations already placed in Super 12s will start.
ICC T20 World Cup began in the year 2007. Like every ICC tournament, the international cricket-governing body organizes a set of warm-up matches for the teams so they have enough match practice in the host country before the tournament begins.
This year, India, Australia, Afghanistan, England, Pakistan, New Zealand, South Africa and West Indies will be in action during the warm-up games.
The first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 warm up schedule will feature South Africa and Afghanistan. It will be a day game at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, starting at 3:30 PM IST on October 18. At the same time, the Dubai International Cricket Stadium will host a match between Pakistan and West Indies.
Later in the day, India will battle England in Dubai and New Zealand will take on Trans-Tasman rivals Australia. These matches will begin at 7:30 PM IST. The next four games of the warm up round will take place on October 20 at the same venues.
Abu Dhabi will host a match between England and New Zealand in the afternoon followed by a game featuring South Africa and Pakistan. Meanwhile, in Dubai, India will lock horns with Australia in the afternoon, and in the evening, Afghanistan will battle the West Indies.
The T20 World Cup 2021 India squad will play the first of their two warm up matches against England at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Since England are one of the best T20 teams in the world right now, playing against them in the warm up round will help India prepare well for the Super 12s.
The second warm up game of India is an afternoon fixture. They will be battling the Australia squad for T20 World Cup 2021. This match will take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium as well.
