Ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, there will be eight warm-up matches involving all teams that have directly qualified for the Super 12 stage. There are 16 T20 World Cup 2021 teams. Eight teams have been placed in the qualifying round, while the other have already received a spot in the Super 12s.
The eight nations in the qualifying round, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Namibia, Holland, Ireland and Scotland will play a few T20Is before the ICC T20 World Cup gets underway. ICC T20 World Cup began in the year 2007. Like every ICC tournament, the international cricket-governing body organizes a set of warm-up matches for the teams so they have enough match practice in the host country before the tournament begins.
This year, India, Australia, Afghanistan, England, Pakistan, New Zealand, South Africa and West Indies will be in action during the warm-up games.
The first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 warm up schedule will feature South Africa and Afghanistan. It will be a day game at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, starting at 3:30 PM IST on October 18. At the same time, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium will host a match between New Zealand and West Indies.
Later in the day, India will battle Australia in Dubai and England will take on Pakistan in Tolerance Oval, Abu Dhabi. These matches will begin at 7:30 PM IST. The next four games of the warm up round will take place on October 20 at the same venues.
Dubai will host a match between Afghanistan and Australia in the afternoon followed by a game featuring India and South Africa. Meanwhile, in Tolerance Oval, Pakistan will lock horns with West Indies in the afternoon, and in the evening, England will battle New Zealand in Abu Dhabi.
India will be battling the Australia squad for T20 World Cup 2021 in their first warm-up match. This match will take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Since Australia are one of the best T20 teams in the world right now, playing against them in the warm-up round will help India prepare well for the Super 12s.
The T20 World Cup 2021 India squad will play their second warm up matches against South Africa at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the evening. This warm up game is also an evening fixture.
