The Indian Super League (ISL) has been blessed with some great shot-stoppers. Indian goalkeepers have proved their mettle under the sticks. The overseas goalkeepers have also been impressive.

Former India no.1 and current Hyderabad FC goalkeeper Subrata Paul ranks top of the charts when it comes to clean sheets. Paul gained prominence after his heroics in the AFC Asian Cup 2011 against South Korea and Australia. He has kept 28 clean sheets in 85 games which is a 32.9% clean sheet rate. Paul has played for Mumbai City FC, NorthEast United and Jamshedpur FC in the ISL in the previous six seasons.

Current India no.1 and Bengaluru FC goalkeeper Gurpreet Sandhu is ranked second with 25 clean sheets in 58 games. Sandhu has a higher cleansheet rate i.e 43.1% courtesy the compact Bengaluru FC defence over the last few years. Sandhu’s stint at Norweign side Stabaek FC after his East Bengal days changed him as a goalkeeper.

ATK’s Arindam Bhattacharya is ranked third in the all time clean sheets standings with 19 clean sheets in 56 games with a 33.9% clean sheet rate. Indian keepers like Amrinder Singh, Rehenesh TP, and Karanjit Singh are ranked next in the list.

The 2019/20 season saw youngsters like Mohammed Nawaz, Prabhsukhan Gill and Arshdeep Singh make their mark as shot-stoppers in the ISL. Gurpeet Sandhu, Amrinder Singh and Nawaz topped the lists with the most number of clean sheets.

With an 11-team ISL upon the 2020-21 season, fans can expect more goalkeepers to arrive on the scene with bigger records.
