172/5 (20)
173/6 (19.4)
Chennai Super Kings won by 4 wickets
Player of the match: Ruturaj Gaikwad
Rightio! Nortje set the tone with an absolute pacy zinger to castle Faf in the very first over. After that, it was the Robbie and Rutu show. They used the pace and didn't panic at any stage. Ravi Shastri once said after an India-England ODI in 2007, "Uthappa, you deserve 10 dosas!" And boy does he deserve a few crispy ones after tonight. Effortless power and sublime timing, put on a mammoth 110 run partnership with Gaikwad. DC got right back in it with Tom Curran coming up with the smarts, taking the pace off and making life tough for the new batters. Shreyas Iyer produced a highlight-worthy run out to get Rayudu out and CSK, sweating. Gaikwad then came into his own, taking Nortje on who was actually nailing his yorkers. Dhoni sent himself above the in-form Jadeja and with the equation of 24 needed in 2 overs, one thought it wasn't a smart move. It was a smart move. He crunched an Avesh Khan short ball flat into the stands and that sound translated to "I hope you remember me". DC went with their best bowler in Tom Curran to bowl the last over and the nerves were apparent as he missed his length and attempted wide yorkers. It was a Dhoni special. It took a while. It came when it mattered. Classic MS. Classic CSK. Another IPL final. That's it from me, Vasisht and my co-commentator Shashwat. Was a treat to bring y'all the action. Ruturaj Gaikwad (Player of the Match): "I go through normal routines, try to stay neutral. Nothing different about today. Powerplay was crucial, wicket was holding a bit, Robin played really well. It was important to take the odd risk and go for it. I plan for 2-3 overs in advance and which bowlers I can target. Have to be crystal clear, take it an over at a time and take it deep. Every time, MS and Flem tell me to start afresh, that's what separates the good players from the normal players."
MS Dhoni: "Crucial innings, Delhi has a very good bowling attack. Big boundaries to contend with. I've not done a lot this season, I was just trying to watch the ball. We haven't really experimented with our batting order. Thinking behind Thakur's promotion was if he clicks, he'll make it easier for us. Didn't happen that way. Robbie likes to bat up the order, we leave it to God to decide who goes at 3. If the openers bat well, it's Moeen, if not, it's Robin. Ruturaj plays authentic shots, he's very a good talent. Emotions were quite high after we didn't qualify last season, credit goes to the support staff and the individuals' character."
CSK are officially through to their 9th IPL final. They were bottom feeders last season but that yellow championship pedigree has shone bright again in the sultry desert. And did someone say MSD is done? Yes, a lot of people, including me. But that man is called "Thala" for a reason. He might be finished but he still can finish a game of cricket. Turned the clock back to an extent it's not repairable. My word, CSK fans will need some good breakfast to recover from the Dhoni hangover. Presentation next, summary of the game right after. Stay tuned.
Robin Uthappa: "Grateful and happy to contribute. My son's 4th birthday, this one's for him. I just wanted to react to the ball, play to the merit. I may have niggle, but 4 days off, should be good by then. There were days when I had doubts to be honest, especially when you don't get to play in the position you have succeeded in. Shut the noise outside and focused on the controllables. This franchise is the most secure group. After Gauti's time as KKR's skipper, this is the most comfortable I've felt mentally."
Rishabh Pant: "Obviously it's very disappointing. Only thing we can do is rectify our mistakes and move onto the next one. I thought that Tom bowled beautifully, thought he should bowl the last over but he went for a few unfortunately. I thought we had enough on the board. They had a good powerplay and maybe that was the difference."
CSK win by 4 wickets. MS Dhoni 18*(6).
19.4 Tom Curran to MS Dhoni, FOUR! DHONI FINISHES IT OFF IN STYLE! OH MY WORD! Slower delivery dug into the track outside off stump. Dhoni waits deep in his crease and absolutely clubs that one apst deep mid wicket for a boundary to seal the deal! Just like the old days! CSK into the final and Dhoni with the finishing touch!
19.4 Tom Curran to MS Dhoni, very full delivery way outside off stump. Dhoni leaves that one well alone and then sees the umpire indulge in a bit of exercise! Curran feeling the pinch!
19.3 Tom Curran to MS Dhoni, EDGED AND FOUR! Length delivery outside off stump. Dhoni swings himself off his feet and squirts it off the inside edge past the keeper for four.

5 needed from 3 balls.
9 to win from 4 balls. Jadeja is the new man in at the other end.
19.2 Tom Curran to MS Dhoni, FOUR! SHOT! Slower delivery on a short length outside off stump. Dhoni jumps up onto his toes and creams that one over extra cover for a boundary!
If this game was a see-saw we'd all need some quality physiotherapy. 13 needed from 5 now. MSD on strike.
19.1 Tom Curran to Moeen Ali, OUT! GONE FIRST BALL! Slower delivery on a back of a length on middle and leg stump. Moeen goes for the pull and laces it superbly. However, he is hitting to the longer side of the ground and the lack of pace means he can't generate enough power as Rabada back-tracks and then holds onto the chance!

Moeen Ali c Rabada b Curran 16 (12b 2x4 0x6)
Avesh Khan and an over of two halves! Gets Ruturaj, bowls some nice pace off deliveries, finds the wide yorker and then MSD turns back the clock to go CRUNCH! 13 need off 6 balls!

18.6 Avesh Khan to MS Dhoni, another slower delivery on a length outside off stump. Dhoni has a swing across the line and misses as the ball bobbles towards the keeper. Massive dot ball!
18.5 Avesh Khan to MS Dhoni, SIX! SHOT! Back of a length delivery outside off stump. Dhoni clears his front leg and absolutely clatters that one over deep mid wicket for a maximum! Sound of a gunshot that!
18.4 Avesh Khan to MS Dhoni, slower delivery on a back of a length outside off stump. Dhoni has an enormous swipe across the line and only swats away a few flies in the process
18.3 Avesh Khan to Moeen Ali, excellent yorker outside off stump. Moeen stays leg side of the ball and dabs it towards the sweeper on the deep backward point fence for a single
