Kings XI Punjab beat Mumbai Indians (KXIP won the 2nd Super Over)
Match Tied, 1st Super Over Tied

What a day of cricket we have witnessed tonight folks! After the match was tied, we saw the first ever tied Super Over in the history of the Indian Premier League.

The day started off on a poor note for the Mumbai Indians as they lost the trio of their top order - Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan within the powerplay overs to put the innings in a dire spot for the defending champions. Quinton de Kock and Krunal Pandya got things in order as they put up a 50+ partnership to steady the innings for the team. The South African opener got his third 50 in a row and Pandya played a good cameo of 34 runs. The pair of Kieron Pollard and Nathan Coulter-Nile put together a quickfire partnership of 57 runs in 21 balls to take Mumbai Indians to a competitive total of 176 runs at the loss of 6 wickets.

With the target of 177 in sight, Kings XI Punjab started off on a bright note with KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal taking on the MI bowlers and scored briskly in the powerplay. Mayank Agarwal was bowled by Mumbai Indians' strike bowler Jasprit Bumrah to disturb the partnership. Rahul Chahar was also great in his spell for the side with his two crucial wickets - Chris Gayle and Glenn Maxwell as Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul started losing partners on the other end. With some tight bowling from the Mumbai Indians as Bumrah struck at timely intervals, they were able to restrict the KXIP batsmen from running away with the match and the game was tied in the end with a run-out on the final ball when the chasing side needed two to win.

In the first Super Over, Jasprit Bumrah pulled off his absolute best and dismissed the KXIP batsmen Nicholas Pooran and KL Rahul restricting them to just 5 runs on the board. However, Mohammed Shami was up to the task as well for Punjab bowling yorkers and did not allow the MI batsmen Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock to chase 6 runs down and we had the 2nd Super Over on the cards, a first in the Indian Premier League.

For the second Super Over, Chris Jordan had the bowl in his hands and was on point with his yorkers despite a couple of wides as MI batsmen Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav managed to put 11 runs on the board. With Bumrah having bowled the previous Super Over, it was up to Trent Boult for Mumbai. He was poor with his line and length through the over allowing KXIP batsmen- Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal to score the target within four balls as KXIP managed to close out another thrilling encounter in the end.

That's all folks from an exciting clash from Dubai as we have witnessed history tonight with two Super Overs on a single day and the first ever tied Super Over.

This has been Gaurav Kadam and Shashwat Kumar for Sportskeeda bringing to you all the live action from IPL 2020! Stay safe and Good night folks!
Trent Boult got off to a poor start as he overpitched his first delivery that was deposited over the rope by the Universe Boss Chris Gayle. Mayank Agarwal joined the party when he smashed the third delivery through the covers to the rope to virtually grab hold of the match. With one run needed off three balls, Mayank was able to work the full toss down to the mid-wicket boundary to seal the win for the KXIP on a historic night in the IPL 2020 as we first saw the first ever tied Super Over in the history of the Indian Premier League.
0.4 Trent Boult to Mayank Agarwal, FOUR! MAYANK DOES IT THIS TIME ROUND! LOw full toss on middle and leg stump and Mayank creates room for himself before clattering it past long on for a boundary! KXIP have won the match with that boundary!

What a game we have witnessed tonight folks!
0.3 Trent Boult to Mayank Agarwal, FOUR! SHOT! Right in the slot outside off stump and Mayank backs away before crunching it over extra cover for another majestic boundary! MAYANK HAS BEEN HERE THOUGH, HASN'T HE?
0.2 Trent Boult to Chris Gayle, banged into the track at the batsman on leg stump. Gayle gets into an awkward tangle and somehow manages to pull it away towards deep mid wicket for one
0.1 Trent Boult to Chris Gayle, SIX! BOOOM! GAYLE ON FIRE! LOw full toss on middle and leg stump and Gayle just sits deep in his crease before whacking it way over long on for a maximum! RIght then! UNIVERSE BOSS TIME!
Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal to bat for KXIP! Trent Boult will bowl the 2nd Super Over for Mumbai Indians!
Chris Jordan comes in for KXIP to bowl the second over and starts off well with his yorker length now allowing much room for the batsmen Pandya and Pollard! Jordan strays off his line and bowls two wide deliveries and Pollard smashes him for a boundary on the off side. Hardik Pandya is run out on the fourth delivery when the pair tried to steal two runs.

Pollard was given out by the umpire on the fifth delivery but called for a review and the decision was changed! He tried to heave the final ball for a maximum but Mayank Agarwal pulled off a stunning effort to save four runs for his side. MI finish at 11-1 from the 2nd Super Over!

KXIP need 12 runs to win the match!
0.6 Chris Jordan to Kieron Pollard, OH MY WORD! WHAT AN EFFORT THAT IS FROM MAYANK!! LOw full toss on middle and off stump and Pollard mousses that one towards deep mid wicket. Mayank though, flies in the air, holds onto the catch and then parries it back into play. Saves four runs! Could that be a match-winning save?
0.5 Chris Jordan to Kieron Pollard, OUT! OH MY WORD! POLLARD REVIEWS IMMEDIATELY! Full delivery outside off stump and Pollard has an almighty swing at it. He does so from his crease and seems to swipe at thin air. The umpire thinks otherwise though and raises his finger!

Replays shot that the ball has not gotten anywhere close to the bat and Pollard survives! Final ball up for MI!
0.4 Chris Jordan to Kieron Pollard, OUT! Low full toss on middle and leg stump. Pollard shanks his attempted lofted shot towards deep mid wicket. Pandya decides mid way to come back for the second and is miles short of his ground on the second run as the throw was well-directed and Jordan takes the bails off quickly!
0.4 Chris Jordan to Kieron Pollard, sprayed down the leg side again and called a wide! Poor line from Jordan as these extras could prove costly for KXIP in the end!
0.3 Chris Jordan to Kieron Pollard, FOUR! SHOT! Half-volley outside off stump and Pollard makes the most of it! He backs away a shade and pummels it past extra cover for four! The fielder put in a good dive but the pace on the shot was too much to stop for him and it raced away to the rope!
0.2 Chris Jordan to Hardik Pandya, excellent yorker on middle and leg stump and that seems to tail into the batsman as well. Hardik swings at it and squirts it away to deep mid wicket for one. Great length from Jordan as that was directed straight at the stumps and Pandya did well to dig it out!
0.2 Chris Jordan to Hardik Pandya, wayward delivery well outside off stump and Jordan will have to reload that one! Not what KXIP would have wanted!
0.1 Chris Jordan to Kieron Pollard, full delivery on middle and leg stump. Pollard gets his front foot out of the way and drills it down the ground towards long on for a single! Good start by the Englishman as he bowls in the blockhole!
Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya in to bat or MI! Chris Jordan will bowl the Super Over!
Mohammed Shami comes out to bowl for KXIP and the pair are not afforded any room with brilliantly bowled yorkers from the start. Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock try to play some innovative shots but miss out on the timing and can only muster up singles.

MI needed two runs off the final delivery and De Kock was run out with some great work done by KL Rahul who got the bails off with a flick and we have another Super Over here!

The bowlers and the three batsmen used for the first Super Over can not be used again by the two teams.
0.6 Mohammed Shami to Quinton de Kock, OUT! SUPER OVER AGAIN! YOU COULD NOT WRITE THIS! full delivery outside off stump. De Kock goes deep into his crease and somehow manages to carve it past the diving fielder at extra cover. De Kock then rushes back for the second but is just caught short of his ground at the striker's end!

We have history in the making here! A tied super over!
0.5 Mohammed Shami to Rohit Sharma, WELL WELL! Full delivery outside off stump. Rohit shuffles across his stumps before smashing his paddle stroke right into his pads. Gets a single to get de Kock on strike!

Rahul opts for the review too! Could be a contender for the most pointless review ever as Rohit has clearly edged that one! Unless he wants to slow down the game!

2 needed off the last ball now!
