I think that's about all we can say about this game... for now! What a night. For my colleague Bidipto Datta and myself, Meeth Agrawal, it's goodbye from all of us here! We'll see you next time.
Rehan Ahmed (Player of the Match, 3/15 off 20 balls and 37 off 23 balls): "There was a lot of assistance there on this pitch for the spinners, so, was able to make use of it! Joe Root and I didn't really talk much out there, he just said to go for it if I felt like. I want to contribute in the next two matches hopefully, with both bat and ball. It did get a bit close for comfort, but happy to get over the line in the end!"
9:08 PM Local Time, 1:38 PM IST: Trent Rockets win by 2 wickets.
Rehan Ahmed - 37 (23) & 3/15 | Joe Root - 25 (25) & 1/8 Dan Mousley - 26 (25) | Jacob Bethell - 2/22
Oh, my goodness! You cannot believe what we have just witnessed here at Trent Bridge! What a game! What an absolute thriller! Trent Rockets have somehow, some way, pulled off a stunning victory with just two wickets in hand and a single ball left. It all came down to a moment of sheer brilliance and nerve from Ben Cox. This was a proper spinner's delight and a perfect lesson for batters on how to not play spin.
The Rockets looked to be in total control, then they completely fell apart, only to somehow hold their nerve at the very end. We will remember this low-scoring thriller for a very, very long time!
Let's take you through how this absolute rollercoaster unfolded! It was a proper spinner's paradise out there. Rehan Ahmed, George Linde, and even Joe Root absolutely did the business for the Rockets, restricting the Phoenix to a paltry 111.
The chase looked easy, but Trent Boult had other ideas, getting rid of Tom Banton early. But then came the partnership that seemed to settle it: a 64-run stand between Joe Root and Rehan Ahmed. The Rockets looked home and hosed at 66/1. But what a comeback from the Phoenix spinners! They ignited an unbelievable collapse from 66/1 to 77/5.
Suddenly, the pressure was immense, but with 6 needed off 5 balls, up stepped the man of the moment, Ben Cox. He held his nerve with a magnificent 17* off 12 balls, sealing the victory with a boundary off the penultimate ball.
19.4 Jacob Bethell to Ben Cox, PICKS HIS SPOT AND SENDS IT THERE! BEN COX FINISHES IT OFF WITH A FOUR! Length ball around off-stump. Cox went right across his stumps and swept it hard. The ball went over the in-field and found the gap between deep backward square and deep mid-wicket!
19.3 Jacob Bethell to Ben Cox, good length around off-stump. Cox advances and clips it away to the wide long-on area for a couple of runs!
19.2 Jacob Bethell to Ben Cox, round the wicket, Oh! Full and slow outside off. This turned and beat the sweep shot against that turn! Dot ball!
19.1 Jacob Bethell to Max Holden, over the wicket, good length around off. A not-so-well connected reverse-sweep that goes to short third for a single.
Jacob Bethell to continue!
Max Holden batting at 9th position
6 needed off 5 now!
Goodness me! Bethell strikes on the final delivery of the penultimate set. We are going down to the final set. Who would have thought? Absolite madness!
19.0
Sam Hain has been dismissed for 11 runs off 10 balls
18.5 Jacob Bethell to Sam Hain, HOLES OUT! On the fuller side of good length with more pace taken off. Hain gets across the line and slog-sweeps. But the ball went flat over the in-field and found deep mid-wicket perfectly!
18.4 Jacob Bethell to Ben Cox, full on off-stump. Cox sweeps dangerously but connects to pick up a single towards deep backward square.
18.3 Jacob Bethell to Sam Hain, low full toss, following the batter down leg. Hain makes room and strokes it to deep cover point for a single.
18.2 Jacob Bethell to Ben Cox, Oh! Full and in line with the stumps. Cox reverse paddle-sweeps and picks up one to the left of the short third.
18.1 Jacob Bethell to Sam Hain, round the wicket, full and slow on leg-stump. Hain makes room and drives off the front foot to wide mid-off.
Who's gonna bowl the penultimate set? Liam Livingstone has just way too many options. He has handed the ball to Jacob Bethell. A good option imo. Taking on pace is much easier on this wicket.
Simply brilliant from Ben Cox! That is just what the Rockets needed. 10 off 10 now! Still anyone's game.
