9:01 PM local time, 12:31 AM IST: So that will do it for The Hundred tonight. From Trent Bridge, the action shifts to Cardiff first tomorrow, as Welsh Fire take on Southern Brave and then, the caravan moves to London when the Spirit host Northern Superchargers. We begin at 3:00 PM local time (7:30 PM IST) with the first match in the Welsh capital. For now, this is the pair of Meeth and Bidipto taking your leave. Keep following Sportskeeda!
David Willey is the Player of the Match for his 3/11. Here's what he has to say: "I'm really happy with today's performance. The pitch had a bit of a change to it, and the lads set things up perfectly. My experience and understanding of the conditions definitely helped, and I was able to use my change-ups effectively to get those early wickets. We've had a great group since the start, and our good form is really starting to show in our performances. I've got to mention Rehan Ahmed as well; we've talked a lot about his batting, and when he plays like that, he can really take the game away from the opposition."
8:54 PM local time, 1:24 AM IST: Trent Rockets win by 7 wickets with 26 balls to spare!
Rehan Ahmed 45* (35) | David Willey - 3/11 Lewis Gregory 33* (21) | Sonny Baker - 1/11
Not sure if the pitch quickened up under lights, but the batting from Trent Rockets definitely suggested that the batting from Manchester Originals was below par!
Yes there were a few chances given by the hosts when they were batting. A catch was taken but it turned out to be a back-foot no-ball, from Noor Ahmad. There were some iffy attacking shots played as well. However, the positive intent from the home side was the clear-cut difference!
Rehan Ahmed was the pick of the batters, playing some confident shots and putting the bowlers off their lengths. With the ball, there were a few good deliveries here and there, but the consistency in terms of line and length was missing.
Spin should have played a better part for the Originals than what it did but the Rockets were just too good on the whole!
So, the Rockets are on 16 points now and the Originals, still on 8 points.
Trent Rockets (Men) Scored 100 runs in 14.4 overs
14.4 Scott Currie to Rehan Ahmed, FINISHES OFF IN STYLE!!! It was a length delivery on off, Rehan creates room, clears his front leg and slices it over the extra cover fielder for a boundary. Trent Rockets win by 7 wickets.
14.3 Scott Currie to Tom Moores, good length on off, driven nicely to covers for a solo.
That stop by Ravindra delays the inevitable.
14.2 Scott Currie to Rehan Ahmed, fuller and on the stumps, Rehan moves away and slashes it hard to covers. One run.
A review more in hope than anything else.
14.1 Scott Currie to Rehan Ahmed, short ball, past Rehan's chest. Doesn't get the connection on pull. MO have sent it upstairs for caught behind. Ultraedge confirms no bat. NOT OUT!
Scott Currie to bowl his second set of five balls now.
Okay then, only 4 runs left to win. Rehan Ahmed will be on strike. He should be looking for a boundary here, surely!
14.0
13.5 Noor Ahmad to Rehan Ahmed, a flatter googly on off, pushed to long off for one.
13.4 Noor Ahmad to Rehan Ahmed, free hit ball, full and quick on the pads, beats Rehan on the sweep.
So, it's tough not to keep Noor away from the wickets, isn't it? Hold on, hold on! Noor's back foot has created a problem for him! Time for a free-hit!
13.4 Noor Ahmad to Rehan Ahmed, Great catch in the deep! It was a half tracker from Noor. Rehan created some room and tried to go over covers. Hits it hard and flat where the fielder at covers takes a diving catch in front of him. OHHH! It's a NO BALL! Rehan was almost back in the dugout. But will now face the free hit delivery.
13.3 Noor Ahmad to Rehan Ahmed, a googly on the stumps, defended back to the bowler.
Nice shot!
13.2 Noor Ahmad to Rehan Ahmed, FOUR!!! Poor ball! Full and down the leg side, Rehan gets on one knee and sweeps it behind him to fine leg just ahead of the ropes for a boundary.
13.1 Noor Ahmad to Tom Moores, length ball just outside off, cut away to covers for one.
