Boubakary Soumare rejects Newcastle move

RMC confirm that Newcastle had a €45m + €10m bonuses offer for Boubakary Soumare accepted by Lille, but the player rejected advances from the Magpies, as he wants to finish the season with the Ligue 1 club and reevaluate his future in the summer. Soumare is widely regarded as one of the brightest young midfielders in world football and the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with him in the past.

The talented teenager, who rose to prominence by scoring against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup in September, will reportedly be loaned back to the League One club for the rest of the season. 

Matheson became Rochdale's youngest-ever first-team player at 15 years and 336 days and has been attracting lots of attention from clubs all over England with defensive performances that display a maturity beyond his years.

The 31-year-old playmaker, who was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the past, is currently a free agent having last played for MLS side Chicago Fire. Gaitan, who scored four goals in 28 matches during his time in the States, also spent a season in China with Dalian Yifang.

The Independent understands that United have made enquiries about both strikers, but Norwich swiftly shot down their advances, stating that Pukki is not for sale under any circumstances.

Barcelona have reached an agreement with SC Braga for the transfer of Francisco Trincao for €31 million. The Portuguese forward will join the Catalan giants in the summer in a five-year deal which will run until the end of the 2024-25 campaign. Tincao’s contract at the Camp Nou will also include a massive buy-out clause of €500m. The 20-year-old is considered as a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez, who is in the twilight of his glittering career.

Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic in talks over Victor Wanyama deal

Tottenham and Celtic are in talks over the possibility of sending Victor Wanyama on loan to the north of the border, according to Evening Standard. The defensive midfielder, who played for the Scottish giants between 2011 and 2013, has found game time extremely hard to come by in the present campaign. Although Spurs were holding out for a permanent transfer for Wanyama, it now seems they are not against the idea of letting him leave on loan. The finer details of the deal are yet to be finalised but it seems it will likely include a purchase option.

Arsenal have completed a deadline day loan swoop for Cedric Soares. The full-back leaves Southampton after the arrival of Kyle Walker-Peters at The St Mary's Stadium. 

The loan deal will run till the summer, after which the full-back will be a free agent, available to sign a permanent contract with Arsenal or move on. 

Arsenal's technical director, Edu, had this to say:

"Cedric is a defender with good experience of the Premier League, and of course at international level. He is another strong addition to our defensive unit who will provide our squad with quality..."

"I don’t think we’ll do any more business, no. Anthony (Martial) and Mason (Greenwood) they can break their noses as well. No worries about that". 

The Norwegian boss however added:

“I expect nothing to happen, but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen.”

Rangers complete loan signing of Ianis Hagi from Genk

Ianis Hagi, son of Romania legend Gheorghe, has completed a loan move to Scottish outfit rangers till the end of the season. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has joined from Genk subject to international clearance, with the Light Blues having an exclusive option to buy at the end of the six-month spell.

The Gers' new signing was excited about his move, saying, “Being in such a huge club and having this mentality of winning every game made me take this decision and I am really happy. I can’t wait to meet the fans and I can’t wait for them to meet me and try to build this relationship as good as possible."

His new manager Steven Gerrard echoed his sentiments, saying, "We have been scouting him for some time and it was clear that he has the quality to help to make a difference to the team.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has refused to rule out a Manchester United move for Joshua King and has admitted that the ultimate decision for a transfer lies in the hands of the chief executive and owner. Speaking to reporters about the links, he said, "I'm not going to deny anything you have read but I don't want to talk about it too much. He is much valued and loved by us. He is a massive part of our team, he brings that unique pace and strength, coupled with technical ability and an eye for goal. With a day to go in the window, it's very difficult to find a replacement. It's going to be [a decision] between the chief executive and owner. I love Josh as a player and a person.
