Who will book their spots for North American Championship Ladder Match at TakeOver XXX?
Updated: 20 August 2020 08:03 IST - Published: 20 August 2020 06:58 IST
...
That's all from me for tonight, my friends. I'll see you again this Saturday for Take Over Ecks Ecks Ecks. I hope you all have a fantastic evening and an even better tomorrow. Good night!
...
Velveteen Dream defeated Finn Balor to move on to the TakeOver ladder match
Rhea Ripley and Shotzi Blackheart defeat Aliyah and Mercedes Martinez
Legado del Fantasmo defeat Breezango and Isiah "Swerve" Scott
Dakota Kai defeats Jessi Kamea
Johnny Gargano defeats Ridge Holland (is now also in said ladder match)
...
So, let's take a look at the actual match results...
...
So, that's our pre-TakeOver NXT go-home show. How was it? I liked it. I think we're heading towards a pretty awesome PPV this Saturday.
...
...
All ladder match participants this Saturday are now in the ring and attacking each other.

Bronson Reed stands in the ring with the NA belt held over his head. Credits.

So, I guess he's not going to win.
...
I can't keep up with this.... Timothy Thatcher comes out to attack Finn, followed by a Purple Rainmaker and...

Result: Velveteen Dream defeats Finn Balor
...
Gargano hits the ring and pushes Grimes off the ladder and into the ring. Dream uses the opportunity to land a Superkick.
...
Finn gets the advantage back and Grimes distracts him long enough for Dream to hit a Superplex,
...
With Dream on the arena floor, Finn starts to go after Grimes. Dream is back up and drops Balor onto the ring apron.
...
So, there are ladders set up next to the ring, with the NA title belt hanging in between them. And Grimes is sitting on top of a ladder, waving around the belt. It's really obnoxious.
...
...
Dream keeps the offense up, Finn keeps attempting to fight back.

Dream falls to the arena floor... and Cameron Grimes is out here now for some reason.

Commercial time. OK.
...
Dream with a superkick (with his right leg) that knocks Finn down, and goes for the pin. Gets a 2-count.
...
Balor has continuously been working on Dream's left leg.
...
...
Whoever told Dream that the blonde goatee was a good look for him should probably be yelled at.
...
...
Anyway, the show is back on and Dream just fought his way out of a rear chinlock so I guess it's time to move on.
...
In the set-up to this match, Finn Balor made a point of going on about how the North American Championship was the one accolade in NXT that he hasn't won, or that's "alluded" him or something.

And I'm thinking, "Finn... you weren't even in NXT when that title was created. What are you even talking about?"
...
As we head into what's probably possibly the final ad break of the show, there's something that's bugging me.

This is NXT-related, by the way, I'm not about to go on a personal rant or anything.
...
Dream makes his way to the ring, doing his usual schtick.

Which, I mean, that's fine. It's perfectly good schtick. That's just how I describe things.
...
Finn Balor and his dramatic theme music are here, as he's taking on Velveteen Dream in a match to determine who will take that final spot in TakeOver's North American Championship ladder match/who has the most ostentatious ring entrance.
...
Following a pretty intense Lee vs Kross video package, we're getting a rundown of the other matches at TakeOver on Saturday,
...
...
...
Quarantinewhile, Blackheart leaps from the top rope and onto Aliyah and gets herself the victory!

RESULT: Rhea Ripley and Shotzi Blackheart defeat Aliyah and Mercedes Martinez.
...
In the end, Ripley dodges a kick from Martinez from the ring apron, and then scoops her up and POWERBOMBS her onto the arena floor. OUCH.
...
Sorry, guys! Power on my laptop went KAPUT and I totally missed the whole tag match. Let recap it as the commercials run...
...
NEW BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC TRAILER! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

*ahem* Sorry.
...
Ripley goes right after Martinez, who gets pushed back into her corner and tags in Aliyah.

And now Aliyah is getting her butt kicked pretty badly.
...
Rhea Ripley joins her, although she just walks and doesn't have her own little tiny car to bring her out.

That would be weird.
...
Shotzi Blackheart comes out on her Pow-pow-POWER WHEELS Sherman Tank.
...
Tag Team Action time as Aliyah and Mercedes Martinez (along with Robert Stone) hit the ring.
...
...
...
...
McAfee looks terrified. Cole tells Pat that he's going to make him his... well, it's a bad word but you folks more familiar with adult language can probably guess what he said.
...
Cole approaches McAfee and security gets in between them. Cole knocks the whole security team out of the ring, and it's just the two of them alone. Pat's pals jump to the ring apron to back him up.
...
"I only had two weeks to prepare for this match... Two weeks is all it's going to take for me to beat you."

Damn, Pat McAfee is pretty impressive. I'm really excited for this one on Saturday,
...
McAfee is alone with Adam Cole in the ring and is cutting a pretty damn great promo on him.
...
...
Undisputed ERA is in the ring, ready to confront Mr. Wears Shorts At Wrestlemania himself, Pat McAfee - who has a mic and is entering the ring with his own posse.
...
Pat McAfee and a bunch of other NFL dudes walk through the parking lot, which should make Adam Cole pretty happy.

And it's also an ad break, which makes me pretty happy because I need a breather. WHOO. That was a heck of a match.
...
After clearing out the ring, Breeze is the victim of a top rope attack on the throat attack by Escobar. Santos gets the pin.

Result: Legado del Fantasma defeat Breezango and Isiah Scott
