Is Minecraft on sale for Black Friday 2024?

Despite being 15 years old, there are still thousands of gamers who buy Minecraft for the first time. The sandbox game has a growing community, with new players joining in every day. Even though it is a block game with basic graphics and gameplay, it is not the cheapest game in the industry. Hence, players wait for a good sale to arrive during the holidays so that they can grab a copy.

Many believed it would go on sale during 2024's Black Friday on November 29, 2024. Unfortunately, Minecraft is not on sale in this year's Black Friday.

Note: At the time of writing, the game has not been on sale on any Black Friday. Furthermore, there has been no official confirmation from Mojang about it being not on sale.

When does Minecraft go on sale?

Even though Minecraft is 15 years old, it has hardly gone on sale in its lifespan. The two of the most recent sales it received were on its 10th and 15th anniversaries. In 2019, when the game turned 10 years old, Mojang offered a 50% discount on both Bedrock and Java Edition. This was when neither Dungeons nor Legends were created.

Fast forward to 2024, Mojang celebrated Minecraft's 15th anniversary from May 15 to 29. During this time, they once again gave a massive 50% discount on the game on consoles and PC, and a 70% discount on mobile devices. This encouraged thousands of players to get a copy of both Java and Bedrock Editions since Mojang is now selling both editions in a bundle.

Apart from these two major sales, Bedrock Edition has gone on sale multiple times in 2020, 2022, and 2023 during Cyber Mondays, Holiday sales on Microsoft Store, and more.

When Mojang decided to couple both Java and Bedrock Edition in 2023, they briefly gave away the game at a slight discount.

Minecraft's Block Friday sale is currently available

While the game itself is not on sale, Mojang often hosts a special in-game sale during Black Friday funnily called "Block Friday". In this year's sale, which started on November 26 and lasts till December 3, over 200 adventure worlds, mini-games, skin packs, texture packs, and more goodies from Bedrock Edition's Marketplace will have discounts of up to 75% every day. These whopping discounts are nicknamed Doorbusters.

They have also introduced a method to buy minecoins, the game's microtransaction in-game currency, through the official Minecraft website itself.
