Minecraft players have always amazed the community with their brilliant builds. The scale and detail of the structures built by talented builders are what make them so impressive. Castles, towers, bridges, towns, and even fictional countries have been made in the blocky world. And now, a lost city has been brought back.

A Minecraft player, u/ThaMango, shared an image on the game’s subreddit where other builders show off their creations in the blocky world. The picture showed an aerial shot of a very detailed and quite colorful city of Atlantis. For those who do not know, Atlantis was a legendary island city first described by the Greek philosopher Plato around 360 BCE.

This massive city housed a powerful, advanced civilization and was said to be wealthy and militarily dominant, with grand architecture and concentric rings of land and water. However, according to the legend, the city sank underwater and all traces of it were lost. The original poster did mention that the structure shows how the city looked before it sank.

u/Willing_Ad8004 called it the coolest Minecraft build they’d ever seen and even broke their usual hesitance to comment. They were curious about how long it took to make and whether it was built solo. u/Retrograde-Planet said the build was insane and asked if the map could be downloaded.

Over the years, Minecraft players have pushed the limits of creativity by building some of the most impressive structures ever seen in a video game. From recreating real-world wonders like the ancient city of Atlantis, as seen in this post, and classical Greek temples to fictional landmarks like the castle of Winterfell from Game of Thrones or Hyrule Castle from Zelda, the scale and detail of these projects are astounding.

These builds often require extensive planning. Builders sometimes spend weeks or even months designing layouts, gathering references, and experimenting with block patterns before placing a single block.

Large teams may divide tasks among themselves, handling terrain, interiors, and structural details separately. Even solo builders often map out their work using blueprints or creative-mode sketching. Sometimes these builds are made in Hardcore mode, making the entire process even more challenging.

To speed up the process, many rely on external tools like WorldEdit or Litematica. WorldEdit allows for fast editing of large areas, helpful when carving terrain or repeating patterns. Some creators also use shaders and resource packs to improve visuals, especially for cinematic screenshots or YouTube showcases.

One of the most ambitious community efforts is the Build The Earth project, where thousands of Minecraft players are working together to recreate the entire planet—at a 1:1 scale—using satellite data and real maps. Some parts of major cities such as New York and Paris have been completed.

All of these builds show how Minecraft has become more than just a simple game. It is a household name that allows players to do almost anything they want. From bringing back iconic structures to making complicated computers that can run simple games, anything is possible in the blocky world.
