Minecraft is having a blast when it comes to popularity. It is currently celebrating its 15th anniversary, new content is constantly being added to the game, and one of the most exciting things is Minecraft is finally getting a live-action movie starring Jason Mamoa and Jack Black. While fans have been waiting for a glimpse of the movie, Mojang Studios has shared a short video on their official X handle showing the two leads becoming a part of the 15th-anniversary celebration.

The Minecraft live-action movie has completed filming and has moved on to post-production. This means that fans may soon get the first teaser trailer revealing who will be playing what in the game. But while we wait for the teaser to drop, here’s everything about the hilarious video featuring the two lead actors from the upcoming movie.

The nearly 30-second video was shared on the game’s official X handle with the caption “Crafting kick axe memories since ‘09,” using the word “axe” as a pun considering it is one of the in-game weapons. The final version of the title was first released in 2009 and today Minecraft has become the highest-selling computer game in the world. That’s not an easy feat to achieve.

The short video shows Jason Mamoa and Jack Black finding out about the title’s 15th anniversary by seeing a cake made in the game's iconic style. The two then ask for a weapon and receive a sword and a pickaxe.

Now here’s something interesting; by looking at the background of the scene, one can figure out that it was shot on the movie set. The large stone structure covered with vines looks like a jungle temple or something of that sort. One can also notice the cherry blossom tree behind Jack Black. Another shot shows a mushroom tree on the left side of Jason Mamoa.

If these props look too fake or unreal to be in the movie, they could be extras that were not used or accent items that remain in the background. It is also likely that this video was shot way before its release date during the film's shooting. The movie is set to release on April 5, 2025.
