Mojang Studios is currently celebrating Minecraft's 15th anniversary. The developers have planned a 15-day celebration from May 15 to May 30, 2024, where they will be handing out loads of free goodies to players and creating new maps, merchandise, and more for the community to enjoy on this happy occasion. During the celebrations, they introduced three new capes, two of which were in collaboration with Twitch and TikTok.

However, Mojang Studios could have collaborated with the biggest online video platform in the world, which would've helped Minecraft flourish like no other: YouTube.

How a YouTube cape could have perfectly fit Minecraft's 15th-anniversary celebrations

YouTube is still the biggest gateway to Minecraft

Even before the game was officially released in 2011, Minecraft's budding community started making content for it. This was back when Twitch was called Justin.tv and TikTok did not exist. Players started posting their experiences in the survival game on the internet through YouTube.

Famous YouTubers like Captain Sparklez, DanTDM, Sky Does Everything, and more became dedicated content creators and devoted their lives to the game.

In 2019, famous YouTuber PewDiePie started his very own playthrough series, which amassed millions of views and brought the game back into the mainstream. New-age content creators like Dream, Ph1lza, TommyInnit, Tubbo, and others also became exceedingly famous on the platform.

In 2021, YouTube celebrated the game's success on its platform. Videos related to the title accrued a whopping 1,000,000,000,000 views, which was more than any other game or genre.

Hence, it is safe to say that the survival game grew a lot more on YouTube than on Twitch or TikTok.

While celebrating Minecraft's 15th anniversary, Mojan Studios collaborated with Twitch and TikTok to make free custom capes. Players can acquire these two capes easily, by watching any content creator play Minecraft on either of the two platforms. On Twitch, players must watch the stream for a few minutes, while on TikTok, they need to write the title's name in the live comments.

Users will receive a redemption code that needs to be input on the game website's redemption page.

Similarly, the developers could have worked with YouTube to create a special cape inspired by the video platform and the game's journey on it.
