Mojang Studios recently announced its annual live event where it talks about Minecraft's development. The Swedish game company celebrates all its games and the community while discussing the future of each franchise and what it has been developing. One of the highlights of nearly all live events has been the developer announcing the new major update for its main title.
This year won't disappoint fans either as Mojang could soon announce what it has in store for Minecraft's future.
Mojang Studios is about to announce Minecraft's new update in an upcoming live event
Minecraft Live date and time
While most live events hosted by Mojang Studios were in the month of October or even November, this particular one will be quite early than usual. The game's official YouTube channel released a teaser that the live event will be held on September 28, 2024, at 1 pm PDT/9 pm BST/September 29, 1:30 am IST.
This means that 10 days from now, the developer could announce new updates and tease all the features it has planned for Minecraft's future.
The 15-year-old sandbox receiving new features is still extremely exciting for millions of players since it has such a healthy community. Previously, in 2023, many rejoiced when the developer revealed the 1.21 update and what it brought to the game.
However, this year's update announcement will be quite different due to the recent update cycle change announcement made by Mojang Studios.

Changes in Minecraft's update cycles
On the official website, Mojang Studios recently detailed its intentions to restructure the current update cycle. The creator used to reveal new updates for Minecraft during its yearly live event in the second half of the year. After then, it was made available in June the next year.
Now, however, these feature-rich updates will now be released more frequently and come in varying sizes. As a result, players should anticipate several updates rather than just one or two a year. The developer called these regular upgrades to the content "game drops."
Essentially, going forward, all significant improvements will be divided into manageable, incremental releases that happen all year long.
Previously, Mojang Studios tried this method with 1.20.5, where it released the armadillo mob and wolf armor in an incremental update.
