Conor McGregor recently stated that he has received a second offer to coach on The Ultimate Fighter. With head coach John Kavanagh guaranteeing McGregor's return to action this year, the latest update from the Irishman is sure to delight his millions of fans worldwide.

McGregor did not clarify on the rumored role in the reality television series centered around coaching a team of aspiring fighters. The show follows a group of professional MMA fighters residing in Las Vegas, Nevada, as they battle for a six-figure contract with the UFC. If the rumors are true, this will not be the first time that the Irishman will make an appearance on the popular series. In 2015, Conor McGregor vs. Urijah Faber was the narrative for season 22, after both fighters were roped in as coaches. The pair had their share of run-ins before kindling an unlikely bromance later on in the season.

Fight fans began speculating who should be cast alongside McGregor in the upcoming season as a rival coach. A common view among netizens was that Michael Chandler would make an excellent opposing coach alongside 'The Notorious':

"TUF: McGregor vs Chandler is good TV"

Another fan suggested that Conor McGregor and UFC star Jorge Masvidal could perhaps settle their longstanding internet rivalry in the upcoming season:

"Who doesn’t wanna see multiple episodes of Conor McGregor? Conor v Masvidal coaches on TUF and TUF becomes a monster show suddenly again."

Yet another fan claimed that Tony Ferguson would be the perfect pairing for McGregor:

"Him and @TonyFergusonXT would be fun."

Conor McGregor vs. Urijah Faber: What happened the last time the Irishman was on The Ultimate Fighter?

Conor McGregor and Urijah Faber were featured as coaches for season 22 of The Ultimate Fighter. Unlike past editions, however, the two opposing coaches did not face off at the end of the show.

UFC president Dana White confirmed that McGregor and Faber's role on the show would be limited to mentoring the contestants. Conor McGregor vs. Urijah Faber had to be shelved as the UFC appeared to be aiming for a title unification bout between the Irishman and Jose Aldo eventually.

Despite maintaining a healthy rapport throughout the season and even engaging in humorous banter, there were times when tensions flared and the combatants' competitive nature came to the forefront.

The Irishman infamously referred to T.J. Dillashaw as a "snake in the grass" in the midst of turmoil involving the then-bantamweight champion, his coach Duane Ludwig, and colleague Urijah Faber, who had recruited Dillashaw to join his team and groomed him for the majority of his career. After McGregor suggested that Faber and Dillashaw, who had not dissolved their relationship at the time, should fight, a notorious brawl broke out between the two squads.
