Former kickboxer Andrew Tate, also known as 'King Cobra' and 'Top G,' ascended to social media superstardom in 2022, primarily owing to his followers flooding social media with several videos and posts featuring him.

Most of the posts were made by people recruited by Tate's online communities, including Hustler's University, which promised to make them wealthy via an affiliate marketing program.

Online communities such as Hustler's University are something that Andrew Tate and his younger brother Tristan Tate use to offer lifestyle and financial coaching, whilst simultaneously promoting the Tate brand. Although Hustler's University is now defunct, other communities such as The Real World and The War Room are still used by the brothers to guide their followers.

The social media posts generally feature self-proclaimed misogynist Andrew Tate making controversial statements such as encouraging men to cheat on their wives/girlfriends. Many believe Tate's opinions promote misogyny, racism, homophobia, violence, and social disharmony.

Several supporters of the 36-year-old British-American social media influencer often defend his incendiary comments by claiming he's simply playing a semi-satirical character. Meanwhile, others have lauded him as a men's rights activist and an antidote to radical feminism and misandry.

The consensus is that Andrew Tate's MLM (multi-level marketing) tactics and bombarding social media with his controversial takes have garnered him worldwide fame but have also purportedly exposed him as a misogynist.

Prior to his de-platforming from the vast majority of social media platforms, 'King Cobra' often used a myriad of platforms to assert that women must "bear some responsibility" for being raped.

As reported by The Guardian in 2022, Andrew Tate emphasized that rape victims should “bear responsibility” for being attacked. Additionally, he's often opined that he prefers dating women aged no older than 18-19 to "make an imprint" on them.

The multimillionaire businessman has also time and again highlighted that men are allowed to cheat on women but women aren't allowed to cheat on men. In one of his several lifestyle/dating coaching videos online, he explained how he'd attack a woman if she accused him of cheating. Andrew Tate said:

“It’s bang out the machete, boom in her face and grip her by the neck. Shut up bi**h.”

Furthermore, during an online debate with YouTuber Hasan Piker, Andrew Tate reiterated his oft-discussed view that women shouldn't be allowed to drive. Tate also argued with Twitch streamer xQc regarding women's ability to drive and said:

“Women can’t drive if that upsets geeks like you, [...] I don’t give a f**k."

Andrew Tate's deflection strategy and opinion on women viewing themselves as equals to men

The Tate brothers are currently jailed in Romania, facing charges related to sexual assault, connection with organized crime, and more. They were arrested in December 2022, and their detention was recently extended again until the end of March 2023. That said, Andrew Tate continues to espouse his views via his recently-reinstated Twitter account.

Andrew Tate's critics have consistently pointed out that deflection -- including praising women and pledging to donate to charities against domestic violence -- is one of the most effective strategies he utilizes to gaslight others. One such example came during his appearance on Barstool Sports' BFFs podcast.

As reported by as.com, Barstool Sports' Dave Portnoy indicated that while plenty of women might accept Tate's views and accept a secondary gender role with a man as her superior, there are other women who view themselves as equal to men. Tate responded by claiming that he wouldn't accord any significance or time to women who try to be men's equals. He said:

“Any woman who is going to sit there and think it’s more important to argue with me about she is as capable as a man at everything, [...] as opposed to just letting me pay the bill and be pleasant, is not the kind of woman I want to talk to.”

Moreover, 'King Cobra' compared women to objects, dogs, and children; staying true to his longstanding claims that a woman belongs to a man. Tate explained:

“You can’t be responsible for something that doesn’t listen to you. You can’t be responsible for a dog if it doesn’t obey you, or a child if it doesn’t obey you, or a woman that doesn’t obey you.”

Tate's detractors often emphasize that soon after his two aforementioned assertions on the BFFs podcast, he used his deflection strategy. After comparing women to objects, dogs, and children, the self-proclaimed lifestyle coach claimed that he loves women. Tate noted that "one hundred percent of the people I have ever had sex with are women."

Moreover, during an appearance on the Fresh and Fit podcast, Andrew Tate recalled "pimpin'" women to earn money. Tate has time and again boasted about his business acumen, having used female webcam models to build his business empire, and his drive to make himself rich. Nevertheless, he's criticized the aforesaid female models for wanting to make money. Tate said:

“At the height of my webcam pimpin’ I think I am the king of the world […] the problem is the first two girls worked for me because they loved me, […] but once you get bigger you start hiring girls who don’t love you. They are in it for the money.”
