Fallout 76 Milepost Zero hotfix is live and it feels more like a band-aid on a massive scar than a proper solution. The player base often jokes that it doesn’t feel like a Bethesda game launch or update if there are no game-breaking bugs present in it. However, with the bugfest in the Fallout 76 Milepost Zero update and the newly added Caravan mode, this doesn’t seem that funny anymore.
The Fallout 76 Milepost Zero update was released back in early September 2024. The update was released without the title's most attractive feature, the Brahmin Caravan. This was later released on September 17, 2024, with a hotfix for previously reported bugs.
Despite the Hotfix, many of the bugs are still rampant, alongside some new ones. In this article, we delve into the bugs currently present in the game post the Fallout 76 Milepost Zero hotfix.
Bugs in the Fallout 76 Milepost Zero hotfix update
Here are the issues that are currently present in the game following the Fallout 76 Milepost Zero hotfix on September 17, 2024 (Based on reports from social media):
- Prefab issues: One of the more glaring issues is tied to the new Raider Lodge prefab. For those who had already unlocked and placed the Hunter's Lodge at their camp, it became impossible to place the new Raider Lodge. The two prefabs appeared to share the same in-game ID, meaning the system treated them as identical. This mix-up frustrated players who had earned the new lodge through the scoreboard rewards but found it unusable due to this bug.

- Caravan Quests Broken: Numerous reports following the Fallout 76 Milepost Zero hotfix surfaced of Brahmin disappearing mid-caravan escort or refusing to move at all, breaking the quest entirely. Without these crucial creatures, the new caravan quests—already a tedious grind—became impossible to complete. These bugs not only halted progress but also discouraged players from participating in the new caravan system altogether.
- No Rewards for Escort Quests: Even if players managed to push through the bugs and complete the caravan escort missions, many reported that they received no rewards.
- Triumph Terrace Shelter Issues Persist: The Triumph Terrace Shelter received some attention in this update, with the invisible wall issue finally addressed. But just as one problem was solved, another arose. Players quickly discovered that placing foundations and prefabs in specific areas of the shelter became nearly impossible. It appears that in-game grass is being treated as an object, preventing proper placement of structures.

- Lode Barring Event Still Blocked: The infamous Lode Barring event bug has plagued the community for years, and it seems it’s here to stay. Players are reporting that an invisible wall continues to prevent them from participating in this event, locking them out. Despite multiple attempts to fix this issue, it persists.
- Earle Williams is stuck in the walls: Another old bug makes a return in the form of Earle Williams, the notorious boss in the colossal Wendigo Colossus event. Players are still encountering instances where Earle clips through the walls, floors, or ceilings, making it impossible to finish the event. It’s a longstanding bug, and despite being well-documented, the community is left wondering why it remains unaddressed.
- Players blocked from entering locations: After the Fallout 76 Milepost Zero hotfix, reports have surfaced of players being blocked from entering public locations, like the Whitesprings train station and the shack at the Pylon Ambush Site. Items placed by other players are obstructing doorways, making these areas inaccessible. While these reports did circulate before the hotfix, it's unclear whether this problem stems from bugs in the main game or from the custom Fallout Worlds mode.
- Things that continue to be broken since the last update: Jetpacks still suffer from AP drainage issues, while both the AP regeneration mechanic and the Thirst Quencher perk continue to malfunction. This especially happens during heavily populated events like Moonshine Jamboree and Eviction Notice. Power armor is also still plagued with bugs that include HUD malfunctions and fusion core issues that date back to Fallout 4. There are still reports of countless other unfixed bugs.
The community is rightfully upset with this development as according to them, most of these bugs were reported during the test servers of the update aka the PTR. These reports allegedly delayed the release date of the Caravan update, yet even after the delay and a hotfix, issues continue to persist.
