Warframe, one of the most popular MMO looter shooters out there, just completed its 10th anniversary. It has arguably become the gold standard for the genre in terms of its decade-long growth and progress, having remained true to its free-to-play model.

Since its initial release, Warframe has undergone significant changes, evolving into a game that looks and plays quite differently from its humble beginnings. The developers, Digital Extremes, have constantly introduced new content to establish the game as their flagship franchise. For example, the game has seen massive growth in its vast arsenal, with the number of in-game weapons currently at over 400.

Despite the power-creep nature of balance in Warframe gradually pushing older weapons into relative obscurity, some legacy signature weapons still remain relevant. One of these old classics is Soma. Introduced in September 2013, the Soma is a Tenno assault rifle known both for its iconic slender design and its place as one of the earliest crit powerhouses.

Thanks to the new Incarnon Genesis system introduced with the latest Duviri Paradox update, the Soma is back on the forefront again now with a massive power boost. Its Incarnon mode turns it into an auto-shotgun with eight pellets per shot, and with a fire-rate mod like Vile Acceleration, it can chew through the most durable of end-game enemies.

The Incarnon Genesis system is a new platform for the Warframe developers to bring attention back to legacy weapons with a bespoke Evolution system, i.e., dedicated perk trees. Since the launch of the system with Duviri, this is the fifth weekly rotation of Incarnon Genesis weapons in Warframe. Alongside Soma, four more weapons will also receive their Geneses:

  • Ack & Brunt
  • Vasto
  • Nami Solo
  • Burston

To obtain these, you must unlock:

  • The Duviri Paradox quest, to access The Circuit
  • The Steel Path, to unlock the Steel Path Circuit

Once you have booted into the game, simply access The Circuit to receive the Incarnon Geneses as potential rewards. If you have not played the Circuit before, you can get to it through the Duviri menu on the Navigation screen after beating the quest.

Once you select Steel Path Circuit mode, the system lets you select two out of five weapons to be placed into the Circuit reward tiers. You should select the Soma first and your second weapon of choice right after this, so that Soma gets placed in the fifth tier of rewards.

You now have to reach the fifth tier to obtain the Incarnon Genesis adapter for Soma before the end of the week. All in all, this takes just about 1800 progress points. For reference, you can get this many points from less than 13 rounds of The Circuit in The Steel Path mode if you can do it in one go.

Once you have unlocked it, all you need to do is go to the Holdfast gun vendor, Cavalero, to activate it anytime. He can be found in Chrysalith, the hub area of Zariman Ten-Zero. Unlocking it will cost a hefty amount of resources, which you can only farm in Duviri.

It is also important to note that if you put the adapter on Soma Prime rather than Soma, the bonus stats will be lower.
