The Rust December update is all set to go live on December 5, 2024. A brand-new force wipe will bring forth a lot of changes, and as evident from the staging branch showcase done by SHADOWFRAX, a popular Rust content creator, fans have quite a bit of content to look out for in the update.

This article will provide players with a detailed brief on what they can expect from the Rust December update.

What's coming with the Rust December update?

The latest showcase from SHADOWFRAX provides us with a detailed look into everything that is potentially coming to the game with the December update. Here's a look at all the items that will become a part of the title after the upcoming force wipe.

Upgradable High External Walls

Previously, High External Walls in Rust were available in two different forms, one was wooden, while the other was made of stone. Players needed to craft these items separately whenever they wanted to place them to form a compound. With the latest update, the developers are now implementing a feature to upgrade this deployable item.

Moving forward, players will be able to place High External Wooden Walls, and then proceed to upgrade them to stone whenever they want. There will be no requirement for players to craft the latter separately like before. This is a massive quality-of-life update and saves players a ton of trouble when they eventually want to upgrade their compound walls to stone.

Car Radio

Another minor feature coming with the Rust December update is the car radio. Players will be able to place a deployable radio in a car of their choice. As per the staging branch showcase, the radio will have a few preexisting channels that players can tune into and play music.

Reload bug fixes

Reload bugs on the crossbow and the rocket launcher have been some of the most commonly reported issues from players. This problem has been rampant in the past few months, and with the latest update, the developers will be implementing a fix to get rid of the reload bug.

The Junkyard scrap machine will receive a major quality-of-life update with the December force wipe. While players will be able to use the scrap machine to harvest scrap from cars as they have always done, the update will let them harvest scrap from Scrap Helicopters, Minicopters, and Attack Helicopters.

Here's the total amount of scrap players can expect when they demolish these vehicles:

  • Scrap Helicopter: 500 Scrap
  • Attack Helicopter: 300 Scrap
  • Minicopter: 200 Scrap

Other changes

Alongside these major tweaks, players can also expect a ton of other quality-of-life changes to get implemented with the Rust December update. Here's a quick rundown of some of them:

  • Batteries will now feature a fully charged pointer.
  • Electrical sockets will showcase both input and output directions for easier use and access.
  • Scrap junk piles will automatically despawn once items have been partially looted from them.
  • Players will now be able to rotate electrical sockets and other appliances in the game.
