William Clyde Elliott Sr., also known as Bill Elliott is an ex-NASCAR champion and celebrated driver in the series. He is the father of current generation driver and 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion Chase Elliott. Bill Elliott was the winner of the 1988 Winston Cup Series. He won 16 Most Popular Driver Awards which is a record in NASCAR. He has been a part of the NASCAR Hall of Fame since 2015.

Bill Elliot, who is in the list of 75 Greatest Drivers in NASCAR in 2023, claimed the record of fastest qualifying speed in NASCAR Cup Series when he reached a speed of 212.809 mph at the Talladega Superspeedway. Elliott has gathered 44 victories in the Cup Series, coupled with 320 top-10s and 55 pole positions. He has managed to claim victories in the Daytona 500 (twice), the Southern 500, the Winston 500 and the Brickyard 400 races. Elliott retired from NASCAR Cup Series after the 2012 Cup Series season.
