Team Penske is an American professional auto racing organization that competes in the NASCAR Cup Series, IndyCar Series, IMSA SportsCar Championship, and FIA World Endurance Championship. Team Penske is known for its resilience throughout 40 motorsports championships, winning over 500 races. The team debuted at the 1966 24 Hours of Daytona and made its NASCAR Cup Series debut at the 1972 Winston Western 500, Riverside. Team Penske also competes in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and debuted in 1997 at Kenwood Home and Car Audio 300, Fontana.

Based in Mooresville, North Carolina, Team Penske fields Ford Mustangs for its drivers and has won four drivers’ championships and over 170 races in the NASCAR Cup Series and the Xfinity Series. The team has also used the following names- Penske Racing South, Penske-Kranefuss Racing, and Penske-Jasper Racing.

Born on February 20, 1937, Penske is best known for his ownership of Team Penske and is the founder and chairman of the Penske Corporation, the parent organization for his various businesses.

Penske competed in the Formula One World Championship with two entries overall. His debut in Formula One came in 1961 at the United States Grand Prix. However, his second race at the 1962 United States Grand Prix was his last race in the competition. From hill climbing races to Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), Penske was named SCCA Driver of the Year in 1961 by Sports Illustrated. He also won a NASCAR Pacific Coast Late Model race at Riverside in 1963 and retired as a driver in 1965.
